Q: Can you name your top 3 small cap growth Canadian stocks that, suddenly, are now looking very attractive and provide the main catalyst for recommending each. Also, name 3 growth stocks that were recommended as being attractive but no longer make the list and why.

Q: Generic question: according to one money manager, a number of stocks are now being priced at “zero” …. clearly not zero , but well below traditional metrics for evaluating stocks.( FRC the most obvious example)

AND also arguing that this has not happened since 2008.

As always I am interested in the 5i perspective, please and thank you.

And can you think of stocks that fall into that category?

Q: As you know, both of these companies are currently undergoing "strategic reviews" which presumably are related to potential buyouts from companies expressing interest. I agree with your assessment that successful buyouts would entail prices at least $2 per share above existing price levels. I am surprised that buyers are not loading up at these prices given the significant possibility of such a price surge withing a 2-3 month timeframe. What am I missing?

Q: Hi 5i,
A couple of somewhat related questions:
I'm curious about the 'expression of interest' someone (or some thing) may have made known to CTS management in the past while. Would a potential purchaser be allowed a peek at the quarterly numbers before they were released yesterday in furtherance of its due diligence research, or have to await the release like the rest of us? My guess is the former, tied to a confidentiality agreement, but I'm not sure if that's the case with a publicly traded company.
And, also wondering: if the numbers were decent - as I thought they were - and no purchase deal gets announced quite soon, is it safe to assume there's likely nothing brewing? Or is it all just a black box until something - anything - is formally announced?
Thanks!
Peter

Q: Hi (again) 5i,
Thanks for your answer to my question on CTS earlier today, which I appreciate. Just some quick follow up: You write that CTS is likely worth holding "at least until completion of the review". If a sale of CTS - which would be very public information - is not negotiated, when would it be known that the review has been completed? Would that be required disclosure in the first quarterly report after the review terminated, or is that something management can keep under its hat for as long as it sees fit?
Thanks (again)!
Peter

Q: Hi 5i,
CTS in my TFSA has been a bit of ride. In mid 2021 I was way up but held on the premise that selling winners leaves only losers, and there weren't dark clouds on the horizon - at least not that I saw. Now I'm way down. It's been a big swing.
I was pleased to hear the rumblings about a possible sale of CTS, as I'm sure many others may have been, but that unrewarded optimism has now made me, and others too perhaps, feel disappointed and even manipulated - definitely not good investor sentiment.
I glean from your recent answers to questions involving CTS that you think it's worth holding and I'm willing to do that, although the opportunity cost of having that money tied up waiting for a CTS rebound frustrates me.
So my question is simply, what is there about the future prospects of CTS that makes it a hold right now, and if there isn't a real positive response to the upcoming earnings announcement would it be time to sell, or is that too short term a view?
Thanks,
Peter

Q: In a couple of recent (March 3 posted) questions today you have suggested in some portfolio cleanups, letting AT go and also STC with proceeds to be consolidated into CTS. However, at least to-date, the 5i Growth Portfolio is still holding both AT and STC. Can you elaborate please . Many thanks.

Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you provide an update on the fundamentals of Questor including cash reserves, level of debt, earnings etc. With this in mind, is it strong enough to weather a continued market slump in growth stocks. Does it have the potential for growth. Also can you provide your opinion on management, its background experience and its holdings of common shares. Has there been any significant insider trading lately. If I decide to finally move on from this stock do you have any suggestions for a replacement growth stock, not necessarily in the same sector.

Q: I took the big dividend from ECN - 15k bought three 5K positions VHI (-20%) STC (-80%) & CTS (-50%) to diversify the growth portfolio in my TSFA, losing percentages are app. are these positions worth keeping? My other thought is to sell and put the money back into ECN where the management has a proven track record of managing the risk and creating value for longer term shareholders
