Q: Good day. If I have 1000 shares of company ABC, 200 in one account and 800 in another account, can I just sell the 800 in one account, wait the 30 days and then buy back the 800 after the 30 day period? Tx

Q: Hi All,

With the help of 5i research, my portfolio was well diversified and full of strong named well positioned to withstand the pandemic. The two exceptions were small positions in AC (which I fortunately sold half of @ $45/share) and CAE. Would you hold these depressed names in the hopes of a news based pop or move the immaterial amount of capital into stronger names for the next few years? If the latter, any suggested replacement names? (Please feel free to deduct multiple credits here as i rexognize i asked two questions)

Q: I thought I had asked this earlier to day, however haven’t seen a response.

My question relates to the usable life of solar panels and the blades used for generating power via wind. I don’t know of anybody recycling the panels or the big blades. Is there a way to economically recycle or use these things at the end of their usable lives. Or are we setting up our children to find an answer to a mess we created like we have done with radioactive waste.

I am requesting help with understanding why Manulife would trade 22,000 boe/d for 12.5% of Whitecap’s and NAL’s combined 82,000 boe/d, which amounts to 10,250 boe/d. All numbers from Whitecap’s August 31, 2020 press release. Why is a barrel of Whitecap’s oil worth over 2 barrels of NAL’s oil. Are NAL’s reserves much lower than Whitecap’s. Otherwise Manulife is to be lauded for taking the long term view for value of a growing, progressive Whitecap and Whitecap is to be congratulated for making a great deal especially with respect to deleveraging the balance sheet.
I do not own shares in WCP or MFC either directly or indirectly.

How are the very large gov't deficits ($3T + US / $300B + CDA) being financed at such low interest rates. I understand the FEDs are buying a fair share but how can this be sustainable long term? Q: I really liked your answer about 'dead money' to Jason's question about riocan today. I'd like to get your impression of other reits: IIP.UN, BPY.UN, CAR.UN, and DIR.UN. Are they like dead money for a while? Are they good buys considering their book value per share is lower or close to their market value or do you think they can go down further? Are there any in this list that you would not recommend?

Q: This question is about diversification and percentage of stocks vs ETFs. In my overall portfolio (combined tfsa, rrsp, and non-registered), I have roughly 37% VFV/ZSP, and the rest fairly equally weighted across ENB, KXS, SHOP, VGH, AQN, BEP.UN/C, BIP.UN/C, BNS, CPX, GDI, NVDA, RY, TEAM, VGG, TRP, BAM.A. I'm in my mid 30s and have a long time frame, but would prefer to position for short term performance as much as possible. So, with some cash to allocate, can you please recommend a couple US and CAN stocks to add to this mix (or recommend just adding to what I hold)? Also, given your recent market update on covid vs sector performance, what would you do with the VFV/ZSP allocation? I am open to moving that allocation to stocks instead of an ETF, and am wondering if I should take that path, and how best to position there given the big tech names/top holdings in the ETFs, vs some holdings across sectors that are currently down.
