Q: Hi, AQN stock has languished over past years and shares have been testing investors' patience. Even a recent large acquisition has failed to reignite the stock price. Based on your recent comments, you consider AQN fine for income but not much is expected in terms of capital appreciation. For a quick comparison of share price performance, I pulled the charts of these four utilities over 12 months and noted that while CPX and ACO.X outperformed by a wide margin, AQN was a complete laggard with FTS in the middle of the pack. We are retired investors and looking for ( In Non Regd account ) stability of income ( with increasing dividends) and some growth potential. We have owned FTS and AQN for many years, but are considering to switch out of AQN ( fully or partially ) to CPX or ACO.X. What are your thoughts about this plan and how are the current valuations of CPX and ACO.X for the switch ? How would you rate these four companies, in order of preference ? Thank You

Q: I own shares in these 3 companies and am thinking of adding to one or all of them. Weightings are all still relatively modest. What do think of these stocks, is this a good time to add, and would you suggest adding to one, two or all. If not all, in which one or two would you prefer? With thanks, Don

Q: Hi!
The recent market decline has likely created buying opportunities. Would you be able to list about 20 companies that are "cheap" right now and back-up-the-truck-able?

Q: I have one income account where I have a core of stable companies (BNS, BCE etc.,) and strategically move into beat up names where the yields are temporarily very high due to what I anticipate to be a short term fall in the share price. Generally I am looking for something over 6% in this equation at the time of purchase. Do you see any candidates for such a strategy? Thank-you. Love your service btw. Best money I have ever spent.

Q: Hi Peter

In the latest update to the income portfolio, the entire position in TCL has been sold to invest the capital in other quality names.

Is it possible to let us know some of the names you have in mind for deploying this capital?

Q: Further to yesterdays Q and A re HISA, Evolve's US dollar savings account. Not yet a month old and less than $30 mill invested so far, is this a safe place to park my US dollar account cash i.e. equivalent to my Canadian cash parked in PSA?
A few months ago I asked if there were any US dollar savings accounts similar to PSA and you didn't know of any. Are there any other offerings in this space that should be considered?
Thanks. Peter

Q: Hi Peter

I need to park some cash for a condo purchase in about 6 to 18 months. I'd really appreciate your advice on how to do that with a product that is guaranteed and that I can cash out at any time.

A one year cashable GIC currently pays 2.25%.

What about Money Market Mutual funds? TDB2914 pays 2.73% but is it guaranteed?

In one of your answers, you referenced PSA as basically a high interest savings account. Are there risks with this? According to Yahoo it yields .93% and according to the Purpose Management Fund website it yields 3.3%.

Is your advice on this changing with the recent rapid rise in interest rates?

Thanks so much Peter!
