Q: If you were starting to invest, had $500,000, and sought income with some growth, would you invest today or wait for the Iran war to resolve? If you were to invest today what companies would you buy and in what amounts?
Thank you!

Q: It's rebalancing time, for me. I need to augment our fixed income positions and would appreciate your thoughts on best current options. I already have short and long bond positions at present, not doing much but paying the payments. I'm not keen on pref shares. I am perplexed by the interest rate regime by and large. Are rates going to lower, as I assumed prior to Trumps Iranian caper are will they rise, to counter inflation which may be lurching from the grave. Laddered GIC's? I would rather not carry all the cash I'm generating from trimming equities but have a bit of analysis-paralysis. What would you suggest, Obywan-Kenobi?

Q: Hi Team,

Appreciate all you do, seldom ask questions...

This is for my Kids RESP (ages 7 & 11). As a means to try and get them understanding stocks a little bit, we basically give them 3-5 basic company reports (that 5i recommends) and ask them to review + choose 1 company to invest in. They own 2 companies thus far... investing approx $5K each in Google and CSU. The current market value is now is $2500 for CSU and $11000 for Google... we now have another $3-$4K cash to invest for each of them.

Questions:
1. What would be 3-5 companies we should point them to now for them to pick from (keep in mind, their 'reviewing' of a company is generally looking at the price chart and understanding a bit about the business... there's no deep thought in their decision, obviously)?

2. Which 1 or 2 of those companies should we try to guide their decision to?

3. Would adding to CSU be a better option for them?

4. Should they be trimming google to add another name for diversification?

Thanks!

Q: I am thinking of adding to my defense sector exposure. I own SHLD which is 60% US stocks. With Europe's desire to purchase more defense equippment at home would it make sense to start a new position in EUAD (100% European stocks) instead of adding to SHLD? SHLD has performed better over the last year and the US will have to replenish the armaments it burned in Iran, but US firms might expect fewer orders from Europe.

Q: I'd like to increase exposure to markets outside of the US and Canada. I currently have VEE and VIU.

Would you add to these or are there other ETFs that would complement these?

Q: Hi Peter,
Please comment on TER's quarterly result reported on Apr 28. If you have to choose only one to buy, either TER or MU, at todays' valuations, for maximum capital gain for a 2 years hold, which one would you choose and why. Thanks.

Q: I listened to Chris's top picks on Market Call a couple weeks ago. One being TSX and another gentleman had mentioned it yesterday as well.
I now see it at times as a recommendation at 5i. Is this a higher conviction profitable investment for 3-5 year time frame after the Aussie additions?
Also do we have any profitable Cobalt miners or an ETF in Canada to invest in?
Thanks in advance. David
