Q: I am looking to up my sector allocation in both Consumer Cyclical and Financials. I am a growth investor with time.
Can you provide two recommendations for each today. I need help identifying these based on the market situation and what you can perceive the future to be like with respect an entry point into your recommendations!
Thanks for the help.

Q: Any reason why SHOP has gone up so much over the past 2 days? I haven't seen any news that would account for it. In fact, there have been some analyst 'HOLD' ratings (like a kiss of death).

Q: Hi 5i ... please comment on the prospects for Norbord in this environment, currently at about $17 ... (for a young investor thinking long-term hold, interested in the sector, the dividend, and some growth) ... thx.
Q: I would appreciate your views about the Global Dow Index (GDOW). Would you recommend this index for individuals seeking global and sectoral diversification, but with more conservative, stable companies? Or, do you recommend other indexes?
Can you please also recommend both a Canadian-based and a US-based ETF which tracks the GDOW (or other international index if you so recommend).
Thanks again for this wonderful service!

Q: I am currently down about 25% on both Superior Plus and Russel Metals (held in a RSP account).
However, both have had a nice run off the bottom over the past couple of weeks and I am now thinking of raising some cash in anticipation of another significant market decline, at which time I would take advantage of the opportunity to move in to names such as Fortis, Nutrien and Royal Bank.
Do you think this is a reasonable strategy or are SPB and RUS the type of names that could be "safely" held on to for the longer term?
Thanks, Rick

Q: What are some of your favorite US growth names right now? I am a younger investor with some money to deploy. I have a 20+ year time horizon. I am not too worried about sector allocation due to having a defined benefits pension when I eventually retire (20+ years).
I am also wondering what US stocks 5i staff are currently buying and why.
Thanks for all your advice. I read the questions daily. Your support through these tough times (my first as an investor) has been beyond insightful and finding I am getting my financial education through your words of wisdom and advice. I keep speaking highly of you to my friends looking to get into investing and am encouraging they subscribe to your service as it is beyond exceptional.
Thanks for all that you all do! Hope you and yours are safe and healthy during these tough times.

Q: In your update, you say that "if an investor is not an optimist and does not fundamentally believe that the future will be better than the past, it might require a rethink on why one would bother to invest in equities at all.". I am an optimism by nature, but since 2 weeks, I am struggling with the apparent need for the Federal Reserve liquidity. It seems that once again, if central banks had not injected trillions of liquidity, many companies would have gone bankrupt. We could say that this is a "special world event", but, still, you start to wonder if one's optimism for growth is not instead optimism for government support. We just got a glimpse of what corporate high debt levels can do to stocks, small businesses, and even canadian renters. Interesting times!
Q: Good afternoon,
Keyera currently has a 12% dividend yield- do you feel this can be supported by their balance sheet and is it sustainable?
Thank you.

Q: Greetings all:
Jim Pattison has been buying a few million dollars of the above which
brings his % up. Wft has in turn introduced a poison pill. When asked
his reply was that it doesn't affect them because they have owned shares for 19 years. I have tried to understand this comment and
cannot. Please try to enlighten me.
Thanks,
Ben.

Q: What do you think of this ETF for fixed income portion of a portfolio?
Q: A question about corporate bonds from Gary posted April 14, was answered with "We would prefer to comment on individual issues that your broker might have rather than list several that might not be available." I see that your income portfolio includes CVD. This ETF seems to be not very large and not very liquid; is that correct? If so, I would otherwise be leery of taking a position; but here it is in the portfolio. Is it indeed something that is recommended? If not, is there another ETF that would be better? Or is an ETF not the way to go because of the potential failure of some bonds in any basket? Thanks,
Q: I realize this is completely out of your area of expertise, but I am at my wits end and hoping your experience, or that of your subscibers, can help. My sons received Brookfield Infrastructure Exchangeable Units as a result of the Enercare buyout in 2018. The units appeared in their accounts at BMO Investorline as they were supposed to, but have no symbol, just a name, and they continue to show a price and receive the distributions. I contacted Investorline to find out how to exchange them for "regular" units and they advised me to contact Brookfield. When I contacted Brookfield, they told me the conversion had to be done through the broker, and gave me a contact for my broker to call. I passed the information on to Investorline, and they responded that I had to do the exchange directly through Computershare. Trying to deal with Computershare has been like hitting my head against a brick wall. Do you or anyone reading this have any idea how to go about converting the Brookfield Infrastructure Exchangeable units into regularly traded units?
