Q: I have 1400 BMO shares in Rrsp, I want to sell them and buy tech stocks, looks like tech stocks are hit bottom, this is the list that I want to buy Lspd, Nvei, Toi, shop, Cts, Eglx, At , Goog, Amzn, Upst and Apps, your thoughts please, thanks always.

Q: I am fully invested in my RRIF account and in anticipation of the annual required payout in September, I have to choose what security(ies) to sell to fund the required withdrawal. The choices include current (energy) winners, preferreds with decent dividends, tech and industrial stocks bearing no dividends and most of them under water, or financials and utilities earning good dividends but down from previous highs. Overall, I’m over-weight in financials and energy and under in most all other categories. Also, pull the trigger now given market sentiment or wait until under the gun? Thank you.

Q: I am always confused on days like this when Canadian oils go one way and American oils the other. I would have thought the sectors would both move mostly in tandem guided by oil and gas prices. But, not for the first time, XEG is down today while XLE is up. Why would that be? Yes, it is a bad market day, but ALL my US oils are up strongly while many of the Canadians (TOU in particular) are down. BTW, what % of a diversified portfolio would you devote to oils and gas today? Should pipelines be included in that consideration?

Q: I hold SU PSK and WCP. I don't want to hold oil and gas in the long term, so want to eventually sell these three stocks. Do you feel this sector will likely perform well through a recession and would you tend to continue to hold them through the next year? Could you suggest a target price for each. Could you suggest what I might replace these with in the alternative energy sector - with dividend. Thank you!

Q: Seeking clarity on corporate class etfs. Does this structure exist using US dollars and does it exist in the US? Is there any other provider other than Horizons? Does the structure result in dividends being reinvested in the etf thus becoming taxable as a capital gain when the etf is sold and therefore not taxable as dividend income while the etf is held? So does this structure assist an investor who wishes to reduce income for tax purposes during the period the etf is held? THANKS

Q: Good Morning,

I am considering buying HHL for income in my cash account.

There are three investment options: HHL.U is denominated in U.S. dollars; HHL is hedged back into Canadian dollars and priced in loonies; HHL.B is also priced in Canadian dollars but is unhedged.

What are you overall thoughts on this ETF and which one would be best for me to buy in my cash account?

Q: I am down about 41% with both ENGH and WELL, but 2x the dollar amount for ENGH. I am considering selling 1 or both now for a tax loss and likely buying back. Any idea what to expect with ENGH's upcoming earnings report next week? ENGH seems to be currently sitting at pre-pandemic levels and I am guessing it might be there for a while unless there is some dramatic change in the economy. Thanks for your your comments!

Q: Concerning a canadian ETF,or a covered call ETF ,that pays dividends,but includes mostly US stocks or foreign stocks in a non-registered account : are the dividends fully taxable ? or has the fund already paid the foreign taxes on dividends and is then eligible ( automatically or one has to fill a specific form ?) for a canadien tax crédit ?
