Q: Two parter, no wrong answers possible. In my TFSA I hold Descartes, Kinaxis, Shop and CAE amongst others. I have approx $2000 or .5% to invest in one or two of the four. They are all less than full positions. Suggestions?
Which of the following would you move from a cash account to the TFSA - AC, ATZ or ATD.B? I'm leaning toward AC currently.
Thanks in advance, sleepless nights have become a thing of the past based on my subscription to 5i. Service has been invaluable.
Q: Hi 5i,
I have been investing in my work-RRSP for a number of years and am somewhat lost in trying to define the proper calculation to track my progress. As an overly simplified example,
Year 1: invest $10k
Year 2: invest $5k
Year 3: invest $7k
Year 4: current value $30k
What kind of calculation would help me calculate the growth? Something like compound annual growth rate seems to only take the beginning and final values into account and I was hoping for something with a little more substance since I'd be continually adding to this fund every year.
Q: Hello, Lately I've notice that Cathie Wood has been selling some of the big tech names such as Paypal. Is there something she knows about Paypal or do you think she is rebalancing her portfolios?
Q: Goeasy's loan book has grown from $30 million to $1.8 billion during the last ten years and is projecting to reach $3 billion by 2023. Given the high interest rates charged by the company (19.99% for home equity loan, 24.99% for auto loan, and 29.99% for personal loan based on their website), it's hard for me to understand how any borrower can afford such a high rate and the sustainability of their business model. Can you please shed some light? What will happen to the company's business when a severe recession hits or housing market crashes?
Can you please share your thoughts on the future prospects of these two companies. Resonant (RESN) and Grow Generation (GRWG). Both stocks are down significantly over the past month and significantly lower than their YTD highs. Is now a good time to buy in?
Q: I hold Real Matters. in a TFSA. It's down big time. Bought at $20. Like to hold for the long term but thinking of selling 50% of the holdings and adding to FSV.T and KXS-T. Or should I sell 100 % of REAL and move on . Your thoughts .
Q: goood morning - i have full positions in NWC and PBH. NWC has been steady, with a bit of growth. PBH has done well. I am thinking of selling both and buying QSR for both growth and income. Would you consider this to be a net upgrade in position? Thanks
Q: Hi 5i team. An article in the Economist this week suggests Apple faces a "growth conundrum" because of its large size and political and economic risks in China. What do you think of these concerns from an investor's point of view? Should we expect less from AAPL than it has delivered over the last decade?
Many thanks.
Q: Can you give context to the huge drop off in NCU in recent days? Do you expect this to be temporary? Entry price was $0.16, what is your advice for short and long term?
Q: As a follow up to my previous question regarding the number of stocks, which two stocks do you have the highest conviction in if the goal is pure growth over the next 10+ years (GUD, EGLX, APPS, NVEI, and TOI)
Q: Why does Vermilion Energy keep going down? They had reported great Q2 results. I have them at $2.79 actual versus estimate .05 . I know Oil keeps going down. Do they have too much Debt? Going forward for the rest of this year, what are their estimates? In addition, could I please have their total financial results? Thank you
Q: Hi Peter
Can you share your thoughts on Lead? It appears to invest in growth oriented companies, while giving enhanced covered call income. I am looking at it for income, but happy to get some growth. Is this a good investment?
Q: Hi
I am a long time holder of MEQ and I am wondering your overall thoughts considering the 50% growth this past year and if this is the beginning of bigger moves to come for MEQ as they break the 1B market cap.
NAV is a hard thing for me to evaluate, but the company keeps stating they believe they trade below NAV, would you agree?
Allan
Q: Hi 5i, I believe in diversification and sector capital allocation as the way to help protect yourself over the long term and am currently building out a well diversified portfolio with dividends in mind. With that said my Canadian investments are good (thank you 5i) In the US I am missing exposure to small and midcap companies can you recommend a ETF or mutual fund while keeping dividends in mind currency doesn't matter to me as i have both Canadian and US accounts. Also for the rest of the world I have VXUS ETF can you help me with exposure there.
Many thanks!
I bought a chunk of TRIL today...and arb play. Should I be worried about exchange rate friction? The take out price is US$18.50. As of today, that works out to about C$23.30.
Can currency movements wipe out the 5% gain I expect?
