Q: Is the TRI reverse split effectively a share buyback? What are the advantages to this approach as opposed to a NCIB? Do you view this news as a strong positive for the stock or this basically neutral?

Q: Hello 5i
1. Do you think a recession will occur within the next 12 months, and if yes, when?
2. Do you think the US debt ceiling issue will cause the CDN stock markets to drop, and if yes, by how much?
Thank you. Ron L

Q: I have a few questions regarding these 3 companies, which I hold as part of my real estate exposure. I am down on all 3:
(1) How much overlap is there between REAL:CA and EXPI:US in terms of their various US businesses? I intend to hold REAL for the eventual recovery, cannot use the loss anyway as it is held in an RRSP.
(2) I am considering selling EXPI:US and adding to my TCN:US to consolidate the positions. I can use the loss on EXPI.US. What do you think of this move?
(3) To sum up, hold Real, sell EXPI, add to TCN. Would you do it differently?
(4) In general, due to the shift in outlook for interest rate increases over the past month, do you think the real estate recovery has been accelerated?
Please take as many credits as you like. Thank you.

Q: Your answers to questions about Jacob Solutions have consistently been very positive but the stock seems to be fairly flat in recent times, it has not participated in the positive run than a lot of the markets have enjoyed in the last few months, the promise of benefiting from the suggested infrastructure spending program (did this ever happen?) has not materialized, and the share price is down about 15% from where it was at 12 months ago.
Can you give us a detailed review of its financial metrics and can you tell us why you continue to like this company? Thanks for your excellent service.

Q: What are are top three energy stocks today with dividends >2%? Thank you.
Q: At the time of this question, I haven't yet seen anyone ask about TRI's move today. Great about the special dividend, but I haven't been able to turn up anything about what constitutes their 'share-consolidation.' Sounds somewhat ominous. If you have some detail, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you as always...

Q: I don't mind this ETF's strategy, and am attracted to the underlying ETF's dividend tax-credit eligibility, but the issuer reports AUM of less than $5M, which suggests poor liquidity, if not trading-by-appointment. Is there any reasonable argument for overlooking this weakness - for example, that domestic large-caps just aren't likely to appreciate by much over, say, the next twelve months?

Q: Dear 5i,
In regards to Horizon's ETF; HBB.TO
There web site says the MER is 0.10% and the swap fee is
no more than 0.15%. Does this mean that %Gross Total Return gets
reduced somewhere between 0.10% and a maximum of 0.25%?
Are they any other fees other than trading fees I need to be aware of?

Q: Good day,
I was considering parking US$ funds from my brokerage account in SPRXX (FidelityŽ Money Market Fund) or VMFXX (Vanguard Federal Money Market Fund). However, I am given to understand that Canadian citizens cannot own US mutual funds. (Thank you for the guidance!)
Is there something else that you can suggest for US$ in lieu of these? How do they compare to Canadian ETFs CASH.TO or PSA.TO in terms of safety etc?
Thank you

Q: Rick Rieder from Blackrock posted that fixed income is setting up for generational returns. Also "on a relative valuation basis, stocks cannot be considered the cheaper asset". Would you agree that its shaping up to be a big opportunity to buy fixed assets, and if so what tops your list? Thx
Q: I am down on TRP and also own ENB and PPL. Can you give your view on TRP's recovery. Hold or sell or ?? add while it is down?
