Q: my question is as follows, every analyst and pundit i follow says this market downturn will not end until we have a massive flushout day where sellers are exhausted on huge volume with the vix at 30 or so, this has not happened yet so why do you tell members to buy anything, why not just tell them to wait.furthermore going back until 1940 no downturn has ever ended without this flush out.
second question, and i asked this before your five favorites stocks for the next year, i think you had largo, gc, i get these 2 and you had covalon, i was surprised with covalon, do you know something we do not, also could you add 2 more if possible.
and last question oil is so beaten up it seems like it is the ultimate value play, no new capacity, opec might cut ,refineries coming out of maintenance, winter is upon us,so why so negative, i own bte and bir, based on the fact oiland gas has to go higher, and the stocks are priced like oil is 25 bucks.your opinion. take 3credits thanks dave

Q: Do you consider the dividend safe? I see from the company profile that it raises it's dividend consistently over time. Has it ever reduced it's dividend? What is the current payout ratio? When I try to calculate it, I get well over 100%

Q: 5i does a great job of alerting us to stocks good for buying. But I am wondering if you view it as also within your sphere to alert us when to sell (selling suggestions seem to come only after a problem and a large drop in stock price). For example, when a high-beta stock is at an all-time high maybe it's time to sell (or is the idea that you sell only enough to re-balance). But I have ringing in my ears from lots of sources "let your winners run". But it's hard to see a winner go up +70% over a year only to see it drop 80% in a few days (estimating here). I guess the game plan is if nothing fundamentally changed the stock will eventually recover the drop and then some.

Q: Thx for the quick response. Further to my question....do Why you agree w/ whoever downgraded SQ? What was the reason for the downgrade? And are you still confident in the upside of SHOP & SQ? If so, would you be a buyer today of both SHOP & SQ.

Q: Hi Guys,

I was looking to buy a convertible debenture and I came across CJT.DB.D (5.75% interest) trading on the TSX. When I reviewed the prospectus I discovered there was no conversion feature. It was a straight debenture/bond. Why is it trading on the exchange like a stock or convertible bond and not traded like a bond in some banks bond inventory?

What do you think of this as a bond investment?

Q: Hi guys:
In this correction, companies are so called on sale. Unfortunately retail investors only have so much money to deploy to buy shares. For example I own cargo jet and have done great on the name. Would it be wise to sell the winner and take the cash and add more shares to a savaria , New flyer , ccl , or pbh for example and dollar cost average. Or should I just stay put for my entire portfolio.

I don't want to beat a dead horse here but doesn't GS look pretty tempting here as it drifts toward $10/share.? It hasn't been this low ( other than the last few weeks) since January 2009 during the worst days of the financial crisis . Certainly the world is in a better place now than it was back then? Also approaching a 10% yield which is either highly enticing or highly dangerous?? I haven't figured out which yet? As a very profitable cheap company with a large cash position is this a buy here? I see no insider buying activity at all in the last few months though, what don't they like here? Any thoughts here would be appreciated.
