Q: In your response to Randy about converting BNRE to BN you stated

"Under the structure, there is really only an advantage if the price of BNRE is higher than the price of BN and one wants to sell (and get the higher price). Right now there is a 20c difference, not really material enough to make a switch. Dividends and economic exposure are equivalent."

I would have thought that you would only want to convert BNRE to BN if BRNE was tradng LOWER than BN not HIGHER, thus trading a less valuable stock up to a more valuable stock. What am I missing?

Q: I didn't have bonds this year and I wish I did even though it lost value it still did better than my portfolio tilted toward growth. If you were to initiate a bonds presence in your portfolio. Would you rather buy these 2 or one or the other. Any other suggestion is welcome.

I previously owned TransAlta (TA), when they cut the dividend in 2015/2016 and took the capital loss at the time.

I have owned RNW since 2015, so I currently have a small capital gain.

Upon RNW and TA news release on December 15, it appears the future for RNW is not great and several analysts have stated the best course of action would be for TA to take RNW private (similar to what Enbridge did with Enbridge Income Fund in 2018). Otherwise they indicated no dividend growth and a potential future cut in RNW dividend.

Questions are:

1 - Would it make sense to sell my RNW shares and purchase TA shares (essentially trading dividend income for future stock growth).

2 - Consider the RNW and TA not buyable and finally sell out RNW and buy something else. Any suggestions?

3 - Where does Brookfield fit in with Trans Alta, as they previously made a deal in 2018/2109 for a future purchase of TA hydro assets?

Q: Could the weakness in Brookfield shares be attributable to them funding $250 million of Musk's purchase of Twitter which he has stated "has been in the fast lane to bankruptcy"? New shares are being offered at $54.20 so Brookfield may have to cough up more too.

Apparently it's Brookfield Growth that stands to lose the money - is this an arm of BN or BAM?

Q: This is probably a silly question but I don't want to make a mistake.
Instead of raising 6500.00 cash for my TFSA on Jan 1st, I'm thinking about transferring stock out of my cash account instead. I've already sold my tax loss candidates. I'm not sure how this works though. If my book cost is 6500.00 and market value is 3000.00, does that mean I've contributed my full amount? And in what scenario would this be a smart idea? I could also transfer stocks with significant capital gains.
