Q: Regarding Scott’s question on USD RRIF ACCOUNTS AT TD Direct Investing. If the RRIF account is unlocked, you can have it in USD. If it is a locked account (transferred from company pension) TD will not allow USD account.

I’ve been asking TD about that issue for years. They keep saying they’re thinking about it but it’s never happened.

Q: Are the stock based expenses a one time thing ( yearly) or will they be part of every quarterly report? To have such a reportedly big effect on the earnings, was the company overally generous in this dept?

Q: I thought yesterday was my last question on AMD. I can't reconcile your 40x and 26x numbers using the concensus eps on your web pages nor on G&M's numbers, so where are you getting your forward eps? Thx

Q: One more question to add for TFII. This has been a favourite stock of 5i for some time. It seems to make the list whenever someone asks for 'recommendations'. It has been falling consistently since earnings came out. I realize it is up over the year but I expect a top 5i pick to be that. One thing I find missing from the 5i service package is follow-up reporting on the top portfolio stocks when there is a miss in earnings. If no member submits a question on the stock, there is no mention of it by 5i. In the case of TFII, if I have it right, the last 'report' put out by 5i dates back to April 2022. There have been lots of commentary in the 'question' section, but nothing that brings it all together. Now I realize its only one quarter miss, but many of your customers may not see it the way. They may view it as the start of a long downward spiral. So my question is: what rating would you assign TFII today? Should it better the average market going forward or will it tread water, and if so, for how long? Where do you see it in 3.6, 12 months? Does it still make the 'list' today? When will you issue a new TFII report? And finally, would 5i consider introducing a special quick report whenever a portfolio stock 'misses' a quarter?

Q: This is an additional comment to Scott's question regarding RRSP to RRIF with USD. These are the types of situations why I stopped using banks as investment brokers and moved to other more "friendly" options such as Questrade, Qtrade, etc. In your case I would consider that if TD doesn't want to accommodate you in this particular situation you could tell them to take a long walk off a short pier! Banks need to look up from their documents and take notice that it's now 2024....

Q: Further to Scotts question regarding US Riff, I wish to confirm that I deal entirely with TD and have a US Riff. No issues what so ever

Q: I have a CND and USD side to my RRSP at TD Webbroker. I was surprised to learn that when I convert these RRSP's to RRIFs I can only open a CND RRIF at TD so I will be charged currency conversion fees everytime I receive USD dividends or sell US stock in the RRIF. Given that I have a significant USD allocation to my RRSPs this presents a large issue for me. Is this policy unique to TD or is it a RRIF restiction to hold USD??

You had provided Tppicus expected numbers: 34 cents for EPS and $292M Euros. The company beat the revenue numbers but was short on EPS; however , Cash flow per share grew. Analysts in general seem to focus on Revenue and EPS; When looking at analysts estimates, i dont see CF per share mentioned. Why is that? If i had to choose between sunlife, manulife and Fairfax, which one would be your top pick? There was an article in the Globe that Fairfax has a huge runaway when comparing to Berkshire.. Any comments please. Thanks very much.

HPS would have been a perfect candidate for a collar trade prior to earnings, IF options were available,which they weren't

With such an impressive gain prior to earnings there was a big risk of a major stock decline if earnings weren't met.

A 23% decline in 2 days is pretty painful, regardless of how the stock has performed to date.

An option to hedge would have been nice.

Q: I am learning to use portfolio analytics (PA). PA provides some guidance that makes a lot of sense from a tax efficient perspective. For example, it recommends to place Canadian dividend payers in unregistered accounts and Canadian and US growth funds into TFSAs. Are there any downfalls to not having each account diversified?
