Q: Just some info re Shane’s asking why prl jumped. When discussing gsy top pick on bnn guest said the only financial exposure needed in Canada was gsy and prl. Given small cap status this side comment might have driven some buying hence a gap up.

I manage their money, but would prefer to just manage it through ETF's. Can you please suggest a portfolio of ETF's for reasonable growth (60-70% equities), but balanced with some bonds as well. Q: I have been reading questions on PRL as well as the company report. After reading the company profile I don't really understand the business . Though I did glean they lend money . Please explain why I would prefer to use them over my bank ?
Reading from their website Creditfresh partners with banks to provide loans. Banks lend money . What does PRL bring to the table that the bank doesn't offer ? Why would a bank want to partner with them ? Moneykey provides unsecured loans and lines of credit. So does a bank .... What does PRL do to make a better experience ? The same question for Fora which appears to be the same as Moneykey only centred in Canada ?

What I am trying to understand is the business model and why a consumer would use them over a conventional financial institution ..... I've never heard of this business nor have I ever seen them advertise.... Banks do a lot of advertising in an attempt to take business away from each other ..... So I can't figure out how Joe Sixpack would know of their existence and why he might take his credit needs to them ?

Please give us your take on this ETF of start-ups. On one hand this would seems the perfect vehicle for diversified higher risk investments. Volatility and high fees should be expected but I am more concerned about the fund management.

Q: Good morning. I assume the tuck in of the dumbwaiter purchase is not overly market moving?

Q: A lot of market commentators are observing that there is potentially a correction ahead. Ordinarily I would follow your long standing thought to not try to time the market and I would simply stay the course. But one income oriented account I am concerned with has a priority of capital preservation. These 7 named stocks make up about 1/2 of the holdings. Can you please provide your quick assessment whether they are reasonably safe in the event of a downturn. If not and they are more exposed to a decline, would trimming be sufficient or are there some other names to migrate to protect the account assets?

Q: If a 40 year old (about 20 more working years to go) investor had: RRSP maxed out, TFSA maxed out, and $1.1 M in a NR account, and a $400,000 mortgage debt outstanding (at todays interest rates), would you recommend he sell investments to pay off the mortgage debt, and then put the extra income back into new investment positions to catch up? Or just pay the mortgage off over time, including the interest payments, while letting the investments mature? Thanks.
