Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I have see. Reports from TD and elsewhere about how extremely discounted BN is. For example “ BN's 75% stake in BAM alone represents ~80% of BN's market cap. The market value of BN's stakes in BEP and BIP (~$17bln combined) more than offsets corporate leverage of ~$16bln, which implies that the market is assigning less than zero value to: 1) BN's stake in BBU (~$2bln); 2) the real-estate portfolio; 3) the insurance business; and/or 4) carried interest.”

How is this company not a “table pounding buy” at these levels given management’s record and current price.

Q: Hello 5I. If you had to flag potential screaming buys in the market today what would 5 of them be for a 1 year period and 5 year thanks.

Q: NFI has announced a package of initiatives which I assume are intended to address their burgeoning order book. There are a bunch of questions which arise as a result of their action including but not limited to adequacy and effectiveness, dilution, balance sheet improvement, residual problems etc. Could you please appraise their initiative and offer your comments?

Q: Hi 5i,
CTS closed at $3.35 yesterday a couple of days after its quarterly results came out.
WELL meanwhile closed at $5.30 yesterday, the day before this morning's release of its latest quarterly results.
I own both and I'm down substantially on CTS and down somewhat on WELL. I'm feeling optimistic about the latter, not so much about the former.
I wonder if you could do a quick side-by-side QUANTITATVE comparison of the two and, based on that, advise if you think the present price discrepancy between them is justified by the underlying numbers, or if it it's based on sentiment. If the latter, what are your thoughts on a turn around in the perception of CTS, and where might it be price wise if it wasn't in the doghouse? (I wonder if yesterday's 23% gain for CTS could be meaningful ...?)
Thanks!
Peter
