Q: Good evening
A recent article in the Financial Times identified the simple ETF portfolio as having 3 equal components - global value ETF, global momentum ETF and a global small-cap ETF. The author provided statistical support. Please advise which ETFs [global or US] you would recommend for each one.
Thanks

Q: Transitioning my mutual funds to a self managed ETF portfolio of near equal weighting of ve, vee, spy,vig and iwo for all USA and international exposure. I am due for another block of buying. Which of the 5 above would be best to add now. VE and VEE are down so average out my loss? On weighting I was due to add mostly VEE and IWO. Just starting the transition so can add pretty much any of them.

Q: Friends given the higher price to earnings ratio of the growth stocks in the Russell as held in IWO what is your opinion of IWD the holdings of which have a substantially lower p e ratio from both a safety and a growth perspective (does a lower growth tilt in IWD get offset by these holdings' enhanced safety in your view). Do you think a half position in both makes some sense this late in the cycle or would you stick with the growth provided by IWO. What concerns if any do you have re IWD and do you have a different recommendation for a Russell value etf. Many thanks as always.

Q: What would you consider good weightings in a portfolio for the above ETF's? If you were building a fairly aggressive growth portfolio with these as your base what other ETF's would you suggest to get a start on diversifying a bit?

Q: In our RRSP we hold the above etfs for US exposure. Does 5i see any sector not covered with these ETFs?
Or would you recommend selling any of these ETFs due to too much overlap? We are approaching retirement, but I don’t think that would be a factor in this question. Thank you

Q: I am heavy canada and have decided to diversify globally with ETFs on my own.
Bought some VE and VIG today off the CMS model portfolio list to start on the market dip today. I dont need ANY Canadian exposure so looking at adding positions in VEE, SPY, IWO. Not really interested in ZWU at 0.71 MER. Any preference on which you would add this week? Other options not on CMS portfolio. Balanced growth equity follower. 5+year time frame.

Q: Hi 5i,

I have 10k in my TFSA that I'd like to allocate to ETF's. I'm still in school so I won't have as much money coming in to diversify through stocks.

I was wondering what would be the best way to allocate (how many, what percentage)? I was thinking along the lines of XIC, SPY, and VIG.

Also, what do you think about investing purely in ETF's?

Thanks in advance,

Jon
