Q: For a growth-oriented investor would you see any compelling reason to switch ATD.B for DOL at this time or are the prospects so similar it's a wash? Long term focused. Already have PBH in the sector and don't want to own all three.

Q: I currently have MFI, PBH, ATD.B. I'm under weight in consumer non-cycl. I'm planning to add to PBH to bring it up to a 2% position. Could you recommend a US non-cycl. name you find interesting.

Thank you

Q: Like to know what you think about atd.b. I’am a somewhat long term investor, I consider 3 years as the beginning of a long term hold and will hold at lot longer 5+ years if the stock is performing.
I have had look at atd.b with a three year chart and seen three years ago it was at about $57 and today it was at about $57, with a high of $68 a year ago. Did the have a stock split?
I do find it hard holding this stock as I only get .70% for waiting, and I do have a hard time picking the highs and selling.
Question is I do like a combination of dividend and growth ( I’m not greedy but do like to see something in 3 years) would you hang on, or could you suggest a company with more dividend and a little more growth.
Thanks for your comments

Q: Howdy!
I am slowly repositioning the Canadian equity portion of my RRSP portfolio to emulate your Balanced Equity Portfolio.
About 27% of my portfolio is sitting on cash right now; I do not yet own the listed companies - Are they all good to buy today? Or please rank them in order of value for purchase today versus perhaps holding off a quarter or two.
Thank you

Q: Morning, Have held this company for a few years, slight loss over this period. Given the small dividend, lack lustre performance, do you still see this as worthy of patience? Looking long term, prefer a balance between dividend/growth potential. Other suggestions with better future? Thanks, Lavern

Q: Looking to add to consumer staples exposure. I am looking for best-in-class in the sector. PBH has performed spectacularly, and ATD.B has a great long-term track record, but poor 12-month performance. Leaning somewhat towards PBH, but would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks so much!

Q: Thanks for u comments on the poor/below estimated results of DOL.I may add that It blames on poor weather(also negative impact on earlier results of $ Tree & $ General) & new increase in min wages in some provinces(eg Ontario). The competition may be getter tougher as $ Tree stated last year that it may open another 1000 stores in Can,over time Also a Chinese $ store is opening..So DOL is hit & hit hard(currently down some $10).This also have a carry over impact on PBH(one of u stars) & ATD.B ,both down by some 3%.Please u short view if this is an opportunity to buy these 3 stocks,Always appreciate u normal great services & views

Q: I notice that David Rosenberg will be on Bnn this Friday with Andrew McCreath.
On May 19 He published an article in The Globe & Mail stating that Trumponomics will cause the next recession within the next 12 months.
If he is correct, am I right in assuming that interest rates will then to begin to decline , eventually leading to better prices down the road for the bond proxies?
Could you recomend from your portfolios the best recession proof companies with a history of regularly increasing their dividends?
