Q: I am young investor building my first portfolio during these tough times. Having not been through a financial crisis before I am struggling to know how to proceed. Are you still in the camp that the markets are overvalued right now and need to chill? I keep waiting for pull backs but things keep going up (S&P approaching 3000). Do you think a pull back will come?
Related to the above, in your May 5th update you said "in our view, slow buying at good prices continues to be a solid strategy and we think 2020 prices will look attractive in two to three years from now". Looking at some of your favorite US names in recent Q&A (AYX, TEAM, DOCU, etc) they are at highs. How does one determine "good prices" in these situations (e.g., one day pull backs? overall % reduction? buy into momentum and remain optimistic?)?
Thanks for the fantastic service and for educating young investors like myself.
Q: Would you please recommend a couple of dividends ETFs issued in Canadian dollars - containing Cdn and or US stocks. The objective is yield more than growth with medium or lower risk. Thanks
Q: With other recent big box retailers results , what is your opinion on Costco ?
My own shopping experience was the best since Covid 19 began, they almost seem set up for distancing . Where are they at with online ordering ?
Thanks
Greg
Q: Greetings 5iR Team,
Looking to spice up my portfolio with some tech titles, 1 in CA account and/or 1 in US account.
I currently owned :
CA:GIB.A
CA:KXS
US:GOOG
US:MSFT
Looking for well managed company with good growth potential within the next few years, what do you think might add value to the above list and worth looking at these days ?
Q: Hi Peter and Ryan.
The US will try to open up the Economy and create employment. I remember they have talked about spending on infrastructure. I am looking for some opportunities there. Do you think CLF is a good mid/long term investment? What are your recommendations if not?
Thank you,
Yiwen
Q: Hello Peter,
Wellness, Xebec Absorption, Jamieson Wellness, all had decent numbers recently with Wellness announcing an acquisition of Indivica which I thought would have been received well. Any comments as to why these stocks are not moving much understanding they have done well. Other high tech stocks surge on any announcements so am curious. Also, kirkland lake is heading lower where other gold stocks are moving higher. Thanks.
Q: Peter; Do you think the Brookfield Group, and other large corporations, would take the government’s rental support with all its qualifications, such as a board seat, warrants etc? Thanks. Rod
Q: Befuddled - that's me. Got a list of stocks I would like to add too or establish new positions in, both in Canada and US.
But do I do it now or just continue to hold off?
After the major market bottom, I thought there would be a technical correct......never happened
Then there was the FOMO...and I took a pass on making stock position buys.
Now, the markets are still moving up, and up.
Now what do I do?....like stay put and wait until after the second quarter results as the there is no end to the covid-19, just changes in phases, at least so far.
What is 5iR's suggested tactic, aka approach???
.........Keen to e-read your take.......Tom
In our combined accounts, and looking at the Technology sector, I find that we have too much OTEX. Our other holdings in this sector are CSU, ENGH, KXS, and XIT. Please rank, in order of preference, where some OTEX can be sold, and one or more of the listed holdings could be purchased with the proceeds. I always value your timely advice.
Q: This tech stock is one of the few that seems not to be trading at or 52 week high. WebEx is getting used a lot in the enterprise space. Do you expect this stock to perform well over the next 3 years
Q: Hi 5i team, Alacer stock softened on the first day (May 11th) after the deal announcement with SSR. Since end of the day on Monday May 11th the stock is up approx. 25% in 5 trading days. In your opinion, is the market expecting a competing bid or is this bid up in the stock a recognition of the synergies that will occur with the merger?
Thanks
Rob
