Q: Re exit strategy on stocks
I purchased People Corp many years ago at a great price . The stock went up to over $9.00 then dropped to $7.00 .
How do I decide when to hold ,sell or buy more of a winner after a big drop in price .
Q: Re Dave's question on Questor the WH has been doing its best to downgrade environmental criteria so my take is that while individual states appear to have the ability to set and maintain environmental criteria they are fighting a downdraft and this is affecting market sentiment, perhaps as a minimum.
Q: As the SOXX, iShares PHLX Semiconductor ETF is approaching it's all time high, PHO is bouncing along close to it's 52 week low. I understand the lag in spending from the semi companies showing up in PHO earnings, though it seems to me investors are paying up for forward earnings in semi companies but not PHO? Are similar companies to PHO experiencing the same fate or is this company specific? Do you have examples of similar companies to share?
Q: I currently own TCL.A and NFI in my RRSP account and underwater by quite a bit and wonder if it would be better to sell one of these stock and buy BAD? I would add BAD but then I will be overweight in this sector as I also own WSP, SIS and CAE.
Thanks
Q: Good morning.
It seems like the markets took a sudden wild turn on Thursday. Since then gold, utilities and reits are being booted out the door at a fairly high rate. Can you offer up a suggestion of what the markets might be thinking? Are they simply dumping equities or are they moving into some other sector?
Q: Given the market today - and what (if anything) we can intuit about the future - which sectors would you be inclined to overweight...and which to underweight? Thank you.
Q: Park Lawn Corp. has been pretty weak lately. You would think that with the amount of space to burry people getting less and less, that that their services would get a premium. Through the media I’ve been hearing about eco friendly ways if disposing of deceased. Things like composting (essentially becoming flowers in your flower bed) to burying people by road side and planting a tree over them. How would such future changes affect The company?
Q: A follow up to my previous question. When I receive the stock dividend for this security the cash value of the shares show as $0.00. Only the CIL has a value which varies from payment to payment. This value is deducted from the total book value of the security and there is no adjustment made for the additional shares purchased. I questioned my broker (TD) regarding this and was told that this is the correct way of calculating the book value of the security. This means they are treating the CIL as a return of capital but I’m still not clear if what they are doing is correct. Do you have an opinion?
Q: Bought Cineplex a little over a year ago in my TFSA at around $29; watched it go up to $35, down to $23, and now is settling in around $26. Over a 5 year time horizon, do you believe the company has more or less potential upside than NFI at this time?
Q: Good day team i read that a number of gas and oil companies will betaken off the tsx exchange like Bir pey and a few others how do you feel it will affect these companies I own some of them and LSPD has dropped considerably today, do you think it is a buy at this point.Thank you Norman
