Q: I noticed that pot companies like WEED fall within the Healthcare sector. Why wouldn't pot companies be categorized like tobacco and liquor stocks? Also, there is a lot of hype associated with pot stocks and I sometimes wonder if investors are not taking into account the potential risks - health problems related to smoking and the mental issues to some users. I recall a time when tobacco was advertised by medical doctors and now tobacco companies are being sued.

Q: My 82 year old mother in law has $300,000 in a RRIF and $800,000 in non registered accounts. There are 3 children who are equal equal beneficiaries in her will. From a tax perspective would she be better off withdrawing more than the required minimum from the RRIF before she dies or withdrawing more from the non registered accounts? Which scheme would result in less tax paid by her heirs ? The non registered accounts are 80% GICs and 20% equity funds. Thanks, Joe

Q: Hi, I do not have any bonds or fixed income. Looking for one or two prospects to start, with about $50,000 to invest. Would like 3-4%+income. What are your views on the above, and of course any other you may suggest. Would like one size fits all if possible.
Also in a possible 30% downturn in the market , how much would a bond etf cushion the blow?
Thanks

Q: Is today a buying opportunity for the long term? This company has a good ROE
Q: Notwithstanding the weaker than expected sales growth of their 2 products, is there any merit to buying TH at current prices, especially as they might be entering the NASH/NAFLD market. Balance sheet looks ok for now. Thanks

Q: Another service really likes fertility company Hamilton Thorne and has made it a recommendation. Progyny in the US seems to be doing well in a related business so I wanted your thoughts. With people marrying later the theme seems to make sense. Do you like it? A brief example of the write is up below. They write interesting stuff but don't have your track record so I'd love to know what 5i thinks.
When we recommended Hamilton Thorne back in August, we believed the strategy for growth was three-pronged, involving both acquisitions and organic opportunity as well as margin improvement along the way. Recent results fully support our belief, and we’re firmly of the mind that we’re nicely on track.

Q: Hi 5i team,
I've a 2% holding in PHO in a loss position now in my TFSA. I'm thinking of increasing the holding to 4% for a 2-3 years hold. With the current stock price, the general economy, and the semi-conductor business in particular, is this a prudent move or should I wait for a better price or a sign of recovery of the semi conductor business? Thanks.
