Q: I don't have any semiconductors in my portfolio which I think would be a good addition to diversify my portfolio. What would you recommend at this point in time? Thanks for your ideas.

Q: I have some US cash in my unregistered account. Although they are not in the same industry, I've had my eye on these two companies for a while and see that apps has dropped alot lately. I'm looking for growth and can tolerate some volatility. Would you have a preference?

Vtnr -vertex energy, is not currently in your data base.
It recently joined russell microcap index is an environmental services company and recycles motor oil...

I would like your opinion on this company and if it is something that would interest you as an investment. It has recently had several upgrades as far as i can tell...

Do you think share price has gone too far too fast?

Q: Hi 5i. From BAM.A's website, they show Managed assets of over $6ooB.

Of this they show:
Real Estate : $210B, Infrastructure : $95B, Renewables : $59B, Oaktree Inv.: $159B, Priv. Equity : $73B.

Instead of allocating our entire holdings in BAM.A to the Financial Sector,
Would it be reasonable for us to allocate :

Real Estate : 35%, Industrial (Infrastructure) : 16%, Energy : 10%, Financial : 39% ?

Q: Dear 5i,
Comparing MOAT vs VOO it appears that in general MOAT outperforms even thought
MER is considerably higher. It looks like they both distribute dividends but, no return of capital. I am interested in purchasing for my NonReg account and don't want to update my ACB if there is a ROC or phantom distribution. Should I buy one of these or both? Do US ETF's ever have phantom distributions like some Canadian ETF's and mutual funds? I'm afraid I could not find any information on this matter.

Q: Wow, that was some news about EIF's acquisitions. Good for EIF...and thanks for your previous comment to me about not seeing any reason to change (May 17, 2021).......Now with a weighting of 2.3% but with a risk rating that I would say is 3, moving up to 4 out of 5, I'm pondering increasing my EIF weighting....Me, like the 5.67% dividend, too.......What say you, aka your take please!!!......Tom

Q: Any chance that info like the list of Cdn stocks that pay US Dividends could be put out in excel? Excellent bit of information and would like to be able to rearrange it but my skills are too poor to copy it over to excel and get it organized to use.

Q: I've recently transferred approx. 10% of my RRSP to US$ currency. This portion of my funds will be invested in the US market. I believe that in the medium-term, the Canadian dollar will go down again against the US dollar to the mid 70 cent range as it has in the past. When that occurs, I was planning on selling my holdings, transferring the money back into Cnd. funds and possibly just repurchasing US holdings. I know it's after the fact, but was this a good idea or am I just overcomplicating my portfolio for little gain? My retirement horizon is over 10 years away.
