Q: How much of an influence do American investors have on the price of our banks? Many Canadian investors have bank stocks and rely on their dividends for income.

Steve Eisman of "The Big Short" was talking about how an interesting short he sees is Canadian banks and that he has been short for some time. He says the Canadian banks have not had a credit cycle in 30 years, they are extremely unprepared for it and will have real problems.

What is your opinion?

Q: Hello, I see that you will be adding QSR to the Income Portfolio. Is that because you will eventually remove AW from it? If you had to choose between the two, which one would you buy today ? Regards, Gervais

Q: HI GUYS
Just noticed when i printed out my T5 summary of the AMLP ETF it lists the distributions paid on the 1st line as Return of Capital. I would have thought it would be listed on the 3rd line as Foreign Income.
Just wondering if you guys happen to know if i need to enter this on my tax return. After looking around on Intuit turbotax, all i could find was maybe report it as Foreign Income, but even under foreign income, there is no place for "return of Capital"

Q: Is the only difference between these funds is one is hedged and the other non hedged.

Why do you prefer non hedged and if so what are the reasons?

And is the a BMO product similar to hxq?

Q: My daughter is 27 years old and is looking to invest around $35,000 as her first investment. She is considering investing 40% in Canadian equities (ZLB, PDC, and XRE), 50% in US Equities (VUS and DXU), and 10% in International Equities (FCIQ and VEE).

As an initial investment, does this balance seem reasonable or would you have other recommendations? Is this sufficiently diversified or are there too many funds?

Q: I put in a bid this morning for VET at $5.15 & at that time it appeared the bid would be filled because about 4200 shares or people were bidding at that price while 5600 were asking.The stock opened much higher & the bid was not filled. Why does this happen? When someone puts in a limit order to sell for example, does the market give them the best price or the price they entered for a sell?Appreciate your help, as always

Q: Pardon my logic (or lack thereof as it 5:40 am). I did a comparative chart of Shop and AMZN for a period of 1 year and 3 months. Over those two time periods SHOP is up 197% and 65 %, respectively while AMZN is up 21% and 24% over these two respective time periods. I am using the G&M watchlist.
If there is a hint of logic in Shop's share price would that not make AMZN a screaming buy?

Q: I'm thinking of moving two stocks from my non-registered account across to my TFSA. My question is whether this transfer between two accounts is likely to trigger tax liability from CRA. At the moment, there is neither any measurable capital gain or capital loss for the two stocks in the non-registered account.

Q: Thoughts on the earnings released this morning?

Sales increased 21% to $35.4 million for the year-ended December 31, 2019; up 34% to $10.8 million for the fourth quarter; Sales in constant currency increased 24% for the year; 36% for the quarter.

Gross profit increased 15% to $19.0 million for the year; up 34% to $6.1 million for the quarter.

Net income of $793 thousand for the year and $931 thousand for the quarter.

Adjusted EBITDA increased 15% year over year to $7.1 million for the year; up 28% to $2.2 million for the quarter.

Organic growth was 12% for the year; 15% in constant currency. Organic growth was 17% for the quarter, 18% in constant currency.

Cash flow from operations was $6.4 million for the year, up 48%, and total cash at December 31, 2019 was $12.8 million.
