Q: Cipher Pharma made a major acquisition today that they say will double their sales and profits. The new products acquired are also superior to the existing treatment, which has 71% of the USA market, so lots of room there for growth, plus they plan to get approval in Canada and make a deal for ex-North America sales. They also have their drug for toenail fungus, a big market, set to produce final results in about 6 months, with sales expected starting in 2026. This looks like a good growth stock to me, trading at a cheap valuation, given the profit from the new products, and I am wondering what your take is on the acquisition and the stock.

Q: I'm confused about the different Brookfield group of companies (I may not have them all listed), namely, which one should be held under which circumstance (income, growth, registered, unregistered etc) and is it beneficial to hold multiple, and if so which and why. Thanks!

Q: The more growth portion of my cash portfolio ( which is full of financials, utilities etc) now consists of BN, GSY and LMN and have been very happy with them ( thanks to you).

Now am looking at one of the 3 highlighted companies. I have not been in oil for years and do not see the price of oil being in an upward trend , however CNQ seems to be favoured by many analysts. I am impressed with TFII earnings in a sector that is experiencing softness. FSV , again , has reported good earnings with their newly acquired roofing business leading the way.

I suspect you would pick any of this 3 as my next acquisition. Should I throw a dart and see which one I hit or does one stand out from the others ?
Thanks. Derek

Q: I find the "Dividend Updates" link at the bottom of the home page to be very useful. On many occasions it was the only place I learned one or more of my holdings had increased its dividend.

In a similar vein, it would be useful to learn that a company had initiated a share buy-back program - positive news for shareholders. Is it possible to include another link on your home page that points to some summary or repository of share buy-back information, NCIBs, etc.? Also useful would be information indicating if the company is actually buying back shares, how many and some measure of progress on the announced buy-back target.

Thank you. IslandJohn

Q: H i5i,

I have a question about opening $10,000 RESP for our granddaughter who is 11 yrs old. An extra $2,500 will be added each year to qualify for the $500 from the gov't.

We are newbies to RESP's so pardon our ignorance for our lack of knowledge. Our current service is through a CDN bank so each transaction costs $. That is ok for us as a buy and hold strategy. For an RESP, is it best to open an account with Wealth Simple to avoid fees? We would like a DRIP stock(ETF) and then a suggestion how to manage the additional funds that are added each year. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for your service. Without question, 5i is the best value that I have ever found. It is our go to reference and we let everyone know if they pay for one service, 5i is the best choice.

Q: I have held West Fraser for some time, sold to take out my original investment cost and have been holding the remainder for a few years wondering if or when housing demand will start to boost the lumber/panel prices.

I think now, or soon, is a time to consider adding a different company, near the bottom of the cycle in preparation for a trend of rising prices. Canfor is going to be challenged with BC fibre supply in the interior of BC as a result of fires and government policy, while Interfor has (I think) diversified nicely into the US; Canfor less so.

I already own Home Depot and would like to add another producer; Interfor, Canfor or a strong US producer. Your insights on your "top 2" companies would be appreciated.

As always, Thanks very much.
