Q: Material Sector - I hold a full position in .LIN and starter positions in EXP CS FCX WFG AEM - all recommended by 5i. I prefer to have a full position in one of these for a long-term [3-5 years] hold. How would you evaluate them [or any other you prefer] and recommend your highest conviction.
Thanks

Q: I have very little exposure to raw materials/mining. What five companies would you recommend for a long-term hold?

Q: hi,
this is less company specific, but I do own a small amount of AEM, which has gone nowhere, even with very high gold prices for some time now. I see today comments in question section of ABX as one doing better than others, but it is a cash disappearing machine, and trades well below levels 24 years ago. Monk used it as his own printing press, and pilfered for years to build insane things for his own personal benefit, including a ridiculously gaudy marina for his wealthy cabal in Montenegro. is there any rational reason you believe anyone should own these suspect outfits owned/run by ie "gold/precious metals miners" ) ? if you were to be interested in having exposure to precious metals what would you recommend ie a miner? physical gold? ETF?
has not cryptocurrency taken over this hedge on the world collapsing ( which there are of course many signs of, daily ). appreciate your thoughts
cheers

Q: My allotment to precious metals is now down below my target of 5%. I need to add to bring up this part of my portfolio. I have a full position in AEM. Which of PAAS, SSRM, BTO, KRR or FNV should I add to at this time? Or do you have another precious metal company that would be appropriate at this time?

Q: I have a small position in Archer Exploration from the Wallbridge spinoff. I am thinking of increasing my nickel exposure. When I consider Canada Nickel it seems to have a much higher valuation. What am I missing ? I believe AEM has investments in both companies.

Q: Hi. I have an RESP for three grandkids, ages 5, 7 and 9. Current holdings that I'm underwater on are: AEM, BCE, BN, NTR and TVE along with these: ARX, BAM, CSU, ENB, RY, TD and TOU. I'd appreciate your overall comments on account re sector allocation and any obvious sells. As well, I'd like suggestions on how to deploy $7000 cash. Thx.

Q: Sir. In the spirit of weeding the garden, I find myself well down in these stocks…with a time frame of 1 year , please comment on which to keep or toss how…. 5i had good things to say about many of these in the past, but we all know that times change quickly in this business…

Q: Portfolio Analytics indicates that across all accounts, we are underweight in the Basic Materials sector. The two stocks and CGL.C listed above are the only holdings in this sector. (CGL.C is a small holding. as it can be traded with zero commission)

Please suggest some additional Canadian and U.S. stocks in this sector to improve diversification, include reasonable entry points, and rank them in order of what to purchase first.

For a Canadian ETF, what is your opinion of XMA?

Please deduct as many credits as necessary.

Thanks

Q: In your answers to questions regarding sectors allocation, you say that materials sector should be at 10%. In my case it is 4% and includes AEM, NTR, CCL.B, WFG, MX. What would you do to increase my allocation? Would you replace some companies? Thank you

Q: I want to get into gold stocks and have always preferred Franco Nevada in the past. Should I look at buying some of it now, and what other companies would you recommend to complement it if I do? (In the same sector) Thanks

Q: Greetings:
If you were establishing a position in gold miners, which would it be with reasons. B2 has hardly come off it's low with a nice dividend, Why? Must be a reason. I have been following gold closely for 50 years, and usually it amounts to no more than the rate of inflation, even though people like your old boss Eric was calling for $5,000.00 gold 15 years ago. However, one shouldn't knock all that hot air because it made him many millions.

Thanks, Ben.

Q: Hi 5i,
I hold above stocks 2%, 1.5% and less than 0,5% of fortitude. Thinking of selling Fortitude to add to my now decreased position in FNV. Which do you think has more upside? If even, given recent FNV decline and lower risk, I might go for more FNV as I am becoming more conservative. I am OK to take some higher risk given Fortitude is a small position.
Your thoughts please on FNV and Fortitude and suggested strategy.
Thank you.

Q: I have two questions. Gold value is now above $2000 US and AEM does not seem to correlate the price of gold, is there a reason for that? I have heard about Cohere (https://cohere.com/), a language AI company based in Toronto, their list of investors is quite impressive (NVDA, SalesForce, Oracle, etc,). Do you think this company could be listed on the TSX in the near future? Thank you

Q: Gold above $2050 would be bullish I think. Wondering what your thoughts are on this asset category at this time and looking for your top two large and small cap picks that would have torque to a higher gold price.

Also a comment on the dividend sustainability of B2 would be appreciated.

Thanks folks

Q: Good morning,

Do you think it may be prudent to swap out Franco Nevada shares now (considering the growing list of political/legal headwinds) for something else?

If so can you give a Canadian suggestion for gold exposure, along with two other picks (any sector) for a possible year-end through January bounce (CAD or US)? Thanks. Brad
