Q: It seems to me that one one of the major themes going forward that we as investors must pay attention to is on-shoring or the re-industrialization of the United States and the western world. Please share with me some of the global and Canadian companies that should benefit if this trend continues. I'm interested in both individual companies and ETFs.

Q: Peter,

Very interesting article in the recent moneysaver about stock market history. What do you see as the chief reasons the Japanese stock market was down for so long a period of time.

Thanks

Paul

Q: Hello 5i,
I recently asked a question regarding icln , which as you mention, is an etf in clean energy area. I asked whether it might respond similarly to AQN and other stocks mentionned in the article you recently wrote on possibility for a rebound with changing rates.

I am interested in this etf, but the stronger possibility of Trump entering the Whitehouse, this time legitimately, worries me. If I can trust what I read, he has made deals with Big Oil and sees climate change as Woke propaganda. This makes me hesitant. How would you see a Trump presidency affecting this sector? although, if it affected the US sector, I imagine it would also affect the Canadian stocks, as well.
thanks for your great service

Q: Many Consumer brands are under pressure but will turn around at some point soon. Any guess as to how far out? What to watch for? Could you rank and add thoughts behind your best overall pick to accumulate... Is there another company you would also consider at this time?

thx, M

Q: I have two stocks in a registered account that seem to have stalled: J and HD. Both are up over time (J up 50%, HD 75%) but there hasn't been much movement lately. Given the absence of tax consequences, is it time to move on? And if yes, please provide two US industrials and two US consumer cyclicals to replace them. (AMZN already held.) Thank you.

Q: The iShares Large Cap Max Buffer Jun ETF started trading on Monday under the ticker symbol 'MAXJ' with a net expense ratio - expenses after waivers and reimbursements - of 0.50%.

Your opinion/advise for the investor who knows nothing about the stock market? Buy, don't buy?

Don't like the expense ratio.

Thank you.

Q: So it looks like we are heading into a real electric energy shortage in the US. What utility companies are going to prosper into the next 5 years. Sad to think that coal is not showing any signs of a slow down.
Thanks Again

Q: Hi, These two stocks are off their recent lows but still trading significantly below their 52 week highs. Based on your comments, their valuations are still attractive compared to the historic average and their peers. Are there any near term catalysts, in your view, which could propel the stocks higher, back to their glory ?

Thank You

Q: Would like to add to my holdings a well diversified growth ETF for a long term hold (10 years+). Have $25,000 to invest in my current $2 million portfolio of equities (20) and ETFs (5)
I am considering FCUV . Your comments on this ETF would very much be appreciated. Also is there any other ETF you would recommend .

Q: No-one who ever bought BCE (including me) expected a >9% yield. If the fear is due to potential dividend cut and/or lack of growth, wouldn’t it be better for the company to just cut the dividend by 50% now and move on?

A 4.6% yield is still decent and maybe investors will actually make more in growth than they would have in income.

Q: The vast majority of my holdings are non-dividend paying growth stocks. The one exception is HMAX, which I purchased earlier this year for its 15% dividend. It is now 3.5% of my portfolio and I am contemplating increasing this to a full position. My reasoning is that most of the bad news in the banking/insurance sector has already been factored into the share price and that, overtime, HMAX's value will rise again. Meanwhile, I'll receive a healthy dividend. I bought HMAX at $13.67; today it's trading at $13. 24. Do you believe the dividend is safe (I'm aware it was reduced last year from 17%) and do you see the current price as a buying opportunity assuming one has patience, likes the dividend, holds no other banks or insurance companies and expects only moderate growth going forward? Thank you.
