Q: Without knowing details of my portfolio, would you recommend selling some SQ at a profit and buying some BOX today?

Q: I have some extra cash to invest and am interested in adding either TEAM, SQUARE or BOX to a well rounded portfolio. With a relatively high risk tolerance, which of these do you see as having a greater upside over a short and long time frame?

Q: Further comment about press releases sent directly to investors from Covalon CEO Jeffrey Mandel: I own that stock. If memory serves, the stock hit a high of 9.15 on August 6 and then appears (in my naive understanding) to have become the victim of a short attack. Trading was halted and IIROC then asked the CEO what material change(s) -- if any -- might account for the abrupt drop -- which hit a low of 6.26 (nearly 40%). As an investor, I took Mandel's first direct emails (which began at that time) as reassurance to investors not to panic and dump the stock. COV has recovered somewhat since then, but I'm assuming that Mandel might be sensitive to the potential of another assault against his company (e.g., SHOP) and may want to inform investors directly of positive progress being made -- which include the last couple of messages that just arrived in my inbox.

Q: Hello
You consistently say Pizza Pizza is good for income but little growth expected. But I see John Heinzl is selling it out of his model portfolio in the Globe and Mail. It is now down 30% in my income portfolio and I now wonder at the advisability of just continuing to hold. Just how sustainable do you think the dividend is over time? Would you expect the company to react positively to restore growth? If sold what "safe" dividend stock would you buy with a comparable dividend?

In my TFSA I have enjoyed a nice run with PHO. I am thinking of selling my position and using the funds to buy TOY. My reasoning is that TOY is larger and thus more stable.

I am interested in taking less risk in my TFSA. I am not concerned with the balance allocation of the portfolio as my PHO is not a high weighting.

Q: Dear 5i,
If I were interested in starting a position in Alphabet (assuming it fit with my sector allocation) would it make sense that I should go for the C class rather than the A class of shares? I would get a moderate discount and still share in the (potential) company's fortunes. The only draw back is that I would have no voting power.
Is my thinking correct? May I have your thoughts?

Q: Many times you remind subscribers that with microcaps you have to think long term ( 5years). Xpel is a great example of that. I remember buying shares in this one at 13-15 cents less than 6 years ago. Now it is trading at $6.00 They don't always work out that way but more times than you think.

Q: I am aiming for 60% of my investments to be outside of Canada. I have a number of index ETFs (VFV, VA, XQQ, HXS, HXQ, VLQ, VMO) but I am wondering if I need some active ETFs. One I came across is Evolve Active Managed Core Equity ETF ( listed on TSX as CAPS) which has a solid return but higher MER at .95% plus very little information available. Are you familiar with his ETF? Do you recommend this active ETF or do you have other suggestions? Do you like the idea of holding some (10%) of a portfolio in active ETFs?

Q: Why would you buy a short term bond etf over laddering 1-5 year GIC. or for that matter just keep buying 1 year GIC.
I looked at BMO ultra short 5 year return 1.32.
I get it that it is liquid, but GIC has no risk.
Am I missing something?

I have to construct 2 portfolios for my son's RRSP & Lira accounts, each with 130 + k with a 15 year time line, each has a Canadian stock component, one with 20 stocks covering most all sectors and ETF's, XGG, VFV, ZDY and VXC for US and International. The other I has HXT and the 5 top stocks in XIT , for Canada, QQC.F, VGG, XWD and XEF for US and International. Am I on the right track or is there any other suggestions that you would want me to make. I greatly appreciate your input.

Q: Bought several cannibus stocks last year. Very successful with selling all this summer except HIP. Before writing this one off (as they still have NO Income), I would appreciate your opinion on the possible value to any of the several emerging successful operations? Thank you.

Q: Do you have any updates on Maxar? I heard someone mention accounting irregularities on BNN (perhaps the person is shorting the stock?). The stock price doesn't seem to want to stop going down. However, with my luck, once I sell MAXR the stock price will jump higher.

Q: I would appreciate it if you could comment on the recently released Q2 results. It looked like it was a slight beat on revenue although today's market reaction is negative (mind you, the entire sector is down).
