Q: Hello 5i,
It was suggested that MMM is not going anywhere soon, but yet it hasd over 4% yield. As a value investor is it time to let it go, noting its problems or kept for yield? I f let go, would you please suggest a replacement with good yield.

NEO was acquired by CBOE Global Markets recently. CBOE does trade publicly but on the BATS exchange. Hope it is Ok to mention this.
I would love for 5i to do a review of the various N.A. exchanges sometime and rank them as investments.
I owned Archipelgo back in the day, and have held X for a long time. Exchanges seem to be good long term investments. Which U.S. exchange would 5i favour at this point, if it were to choose only one?

Q: I am shopping for a single investment offering security over 20 years combined with capital appreciation and accrued dividends (in a DRIP). ETFs do not seem to accrue fractional shares (when they have DRIPs at all); therefore I'm looking at single stocks such as BAM.A, Telus or perhaps BNS. Thanks for your initial comments on the Open Text aquisition. I have been a holder of Open Text for quite a while and this new acquisition seems a little out of the ordinary for them. Out of their seDy as she goes approach. Can you comment on their success in turning around companies with declining revenues in the past. As well on the quality of management. I know Constellation would be at the top of your list in terms of skill of management; where does Open Text's management fall?

Q: I've held BGI for just under a year. Apart from a brief rebound in April I've been under water the whole time. The low PE and high yield make me wonder whether I should add, but the price performance makes me wonder if I should sell.

Q: Hi team!
I am considering a hybrid portfolio of either (A) 80% ETFs and 20% individual stocks or (B) 80% in an All-in-one ETF (VEQT/VGRO) and 20% individual stocks. I understand there may be foreign withholding tax considerations on the Vanguard All-in-one ETFs depending on the account type in which it's held and I'm wondering how significant this actually is.

Questions:

- Which accounts out of RRSP/LIRA, TFSA, RESP, and Non-Registered would US listed ETFs be a better alternative due to this foreign withholding tax drag?

- At what account value would the tax drag from these withholding taxes be material enough to warrant buying individual ETFs (ex. VT, VTI, XUU, XEF) instead of using an all in one fund (VGRO or VEQT)?

Trying to avoid losing 15% or more of any US/foreign dividends due to unrecoverable foreign taxes if possible!

I own EGLX, PLTR, PINS and U in my TFSA and all getting killed. Would you sell any to consolidate in 1 or 2 or sell them all and move to something else? Holding on is also an option. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Q: This fund is held in several accounts (cash, tfsa, rrsp and rdsp) all at approximately 7% in each portfolio. Thinking about selling all because of the high fees but want to know if we'll miss out on a dividend or distribution if we sell before the end of the year. I can't seem to find this information anywhere.
