Q: Greetings 5i Team,
I have room for two of the three names listed above (materials). How would you rank them in order of growth potential 3-5 yr (minimum) hold? Would you offer another Cdn name to throw into the mix?
Thanks as always

Q: I like to own brookfield companies as they give me good diversity and excellent dividends. These two funds are almost identical in their holdings mostly I guess since they are managed by the same individuals. I am thinking of buying INF instead of BGI mostly because the Portfolio analytics treats the geographic diversity more correctly and right now I have the US funds. I do realize this is a bit of an artificial reason and BGI pays a lower dividend but can you see any glaring reasons why this is not a good idea?
Thanks
Don
Q: Now that the dividend has been finally removed and the Trust is no longer getting the income. Is it a possible takeover target and who would want to buy it??
It appears like there must me some value to this company.
Thanks,
George
Q: What do you think of MUX after another desperate move to raise $50 million US near the low of the year, is it safe to hold on to this for a few years?? It appears Rob McEwen has lost all credibility , he has continued to tell us that all the operational problems have been corrected but we continue to get unpleasant negative surprises over and over..
Thanks,
George
Q: Your answer to James re: GDI today, "We would not consider it 'core' for a large investor, but more of a 'park and forget' name." My thought a stock as 'core' and 'park and forget' position would mean the same. What is the difference? Maybe provide some examples of a 'core' stock versus a 'park and forgot' stock to help with understanding the difference. Thank you for your help.
Saw three big volume trades crossed right at the opening bell,in which Scotia Capital crossed 3.75 million shares at $9.81, while RBC Capital Markets did two crosses at the same price, one for 2.5 million shares and the other for 1.25 million. Just wondering the implication of doing this since the buyer and seller are the same broker? Thanks!
Q: Hello 5i Group
When calculating exchange rates on US $ stocks for tax perposes, do I use the exchange rate on the order date or the settlement date.
Thanks

Q: My parents have a long forgotten quantity of shares now trading on the Venture exchange. They do not/are not able to remember anything about them. Where would I start to find the holder of these shares and sell them to at least realize the capital loss? Thanks.
Q: I am thinking about adding IHI to my RRSP but understand that there may be a withholding tax given that it is a US based fund. What is a withholding tax, how much is it, and what are the implications when I go to file my canadian income tax? (I am relatively new to the investment world and don’t want things to get too complicated when having to report losses/ gains)
Thank you for your guidance.
Q: It appears from the fiscal Q2 results that Avante Logixx has turned the corner to future profitability. The Company's stock trades very cheaply at about 60% of revenues based on their forward outlook of C$72 Million. Do you agree?
Q: Yesterday they announced the end of the relationship with Medison . However they ignored the deal with Onconova ONTX.
ONTX had a press release but GUD ignored it.
On Sedar the Medison news is posted but not ONTX. Any insight as to why ? Too small a deal perhaps ?
Thanks
Q: Hi !
I am looking for a way to eventually get out of TSGY with minimal loss. In my present situation, I see no advantage to increase the capital losses in my portfolio. I am holding 270 shares of TSGI bought at $45.93 which gives me a 32% loss presently.
Buying more shares of TSGI now, let us say 130, would allow me to reduce my loss if I can sell at a higher price later.
What do you think of such a scenario and on the potential of appreciation of TSGI in the future ?
