Q: Reviewing my portfolio for year end and find myself low in industrials. I currently hold the above stocks and would like your opinion on whether I should increase any or all of the above (currently all equal weighting) or add to this list?

Q: LGQ's debentures now trade above face value (and, at this moment, with no one looking to sell); does this argue for a rebound in the shares, or is it more likely that the'll just tread water near their current price?

Q: what are your thoughts and conclusion on the very recent up and down on the REI.UN share price?

Q: I am looking for low priced high growth Canadian companies that I want to buy in TFSA in the new year. Volatility, risk factors are NOT relevant. For about 11k. (5500x2) I bought PHO and BBI after reading your responses to some of the subscribers in the Q&A section. Any other names that you would suggest? ( Being seniors our core holdings are in the ETFs in different sectors and safe stocks like XIC, VDY, VIG,MGV,XEG,GLD,XGD etc., ). So, this 11k can be allocated to risky micro or ultra micro caps and I am ok with some losses if I can score a few three or 4 bangers!
My membership has been extended to March 2020 which shows my confidence in you! You need to find a way to synchronise my CMS and 5i subscriptions though!

Q: There has been a lot of insider buying lately in ECN. Is this normal after loss tax selling. Is the company buying back shares. ( PGF )is the investor Schuller still involved in company I believed he had purchased 90 million or so shares and please provide update on PGF.Are they starting to recover. Does PGF have light oil assets?

Q: Hello Peter,
I am surprised that with legalization in some states in USA that there are not many pure cannabis companies trading on the larger exchanges as they are in Canada (i.e. TSX). I did searches on companies in Colorado and California and found very little other than smaller players trading in over the counter. Any comments? Also, is it too risky to invest in companies over the counter. One of the picks was from Goldman Sachs and that was an over the counter company which in some ways may confirm what i was indicating above that there does not seem to be too many companies on major exchanges. I would appreciate your input on any companies that you maybe aware of in the legalized states and if over the counter is too risky. Many thanks and Happy new year.

Q: I had felt very comfortable owning shares of Car.un - then, I read an article in the Globe written by David Milstead The gist of his article was that some REIT payouts are deliberately not accurate, they are manipulated to look healthier than they really are. He elaborates on I'll use the term "Doctoring" maintenance capex and growth capex and ultimately suggests that investors are being misled with what the company reports and what it does not report. His article concerned me. Car.un seems like a very good investment to me, but after reading his article, I ask myself, IS IT?" Please advise/comment. Thank you.

Q: 1) Even Stephen Poloz, Governor of the Bank of Canada, has set aside the issue of NAFTA claiming there remains uncertainty until he knows more about the nature of the risk, he will not focus of that topic. The much greater risk to Canada will be the US Tax Reform. Will Canadians also shift business to the States because it will save 50% in taxes. So, the tax reform is a far bigger issue than NAFTA. How would a Canadian company's move to the US affect me as a shareholder?

2) It appears the flight from income taxed states, especially California, to Texas and Florida particularly, will continue. Seven U.S. states currently don’t have an income tax: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. Residents of New Hampshire and Tennessee also, though they may pay tax on dividends and income from investments. I understand that four states, Minnesota, Alaska, Connecticut, and New Jersey, and the District of Columbia levy corporate income tax rates of 9% or higher. These are the States that may see the withdraw of many corporate headquarters. Six states, North Carolina, North Dakota, Colorado, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Utah, have top rates at or below 5%. Is there any benefit long term to investing in companies headquartered in non taxed States?

Q: Phonton Control and Titan Logix, looks to be in the same type of business. Titan appears to be having management issues, and Phonton appears to be more stable in regards to earnings. Do you favour Phonton over Titan Logix? And is this sector looking to get better in the future?

Q: How do you see the security of the dividend? And is Savaria sales going into the future (backlog)?
