Q: Fastly has a 1 year high of $58 but has been in the $110-120 range prior to then. On its way up, services like Motley Fool's "10X" suggested it could be a stock to go up in multiples (from $50+ where it was at the time) with seemingly strong conviction based on their positioning in content delivery and a belief that they would be more in demand as people consume more and more online. It has fallen off a cliff and I am wondering if their analysis was just dead wrong or if it was too early? Is Fastly's offering something we can expect to see capture more market share and create revenue growth or was it all hype? Please analyze.

Q: Hi, what to you think of Volkswagen here? If I understand they used the recent Porsche IPO to raise funds to invest in the EV space - they are gunning to be the lead EV provider in Europe and compete with Tesla. But with recession looming near future looks bleak for expensive cars. Do you like VW for a focus on EV longer term over others? If so, would you hold off for awhile or is there a lot of negative baked in the current price?

Q: Thank you to David for thinking he was correcting the USA-Canadian split in my NRGI question.

However, he was quoting the NNRG ETF, not the NRGI ETF.

Just so nobody else makes the same, easy-to-do mistake, here are the splits (effective Aug 31/22) for both ETFs, taken directly from the Ninepoint website:

NNRG = 83% Cdn and 9% USA

NRGI = 17% Cdn and 82% USA

Here’s why that’s a buy signal" Portfolio Analytics indicates that we're low in the Communications Services sector, and given that Berman's back-dated numbers are compelling, we're wondering if now would be a good time to buy some more BCE. Q: Hello
I thought it would be good to diversify and collect some extra income from European High Yield companies. Turns out a war in Europe is not good for stocks or currencies.

I hold both hedged and unhedged in equal amounts and see the 7% performance delta due to currency. By the Math (currency move) it is clear a trade out of currency hedged and into currency exposed would be favorable in advance of any recovery of Euro and Stirling.

I don't make Bets. The switch is a bet on Euro and Stirling recovering former glory.

Would you sit on current holdings with both exposures? Move to currency exposure? Or just get out of European companies.

Q: I'm a bit underweight in the consumer cyclical sector and a bit underweight in my international allocation (the latter being somewhat of a chronic condition). I'm trying to make a buy decision between MG, ZDI and XEF. I already own the two ETFs and MG would be a new position. I understand that a direct comparison of a single company with an ETF is not possible and that you can't personalize sector weightings, but all else being equal, which one of these would you be most interested in today? With the articles in the press now revealing the lack of leadership, poor succession planning, disgruntled employees, spotty review of the new CEO, why are you sticking with BNS when there are other banks that IMHO offer far better potential for the reasons I mentioned above.

I was under the impression that these factors play a major role in selecting companies that appear in 5i portfolios.

Peter, with your experience in markets such as the situation we're now in:

Is dollar-cost-averaging over the next year or so a good way to accumulate some good but beaten-down companies?

Can you recommend several Canadian and US ETFs that I can use to take advantage of this dollar-cost-averaging approach?

Finally, since one cannot predict the market bottom with any certainty, what frequency would you add to one's position (weekly, monthly, or ??)
