Q: I’m of the opinion that the current trouble in the Middle East will spur sales of EV’s. Do you agree? If so are there any small caps that might benefit?
You note PNG may be able to defuse mines in the Straight of Horuz. Do they manufacture a “mine sweeper” or is it more of an intention?
Any comments you have would be appreciated.
Jim
Q: Good morning all. My first purchase of PNG was in May 2024, so almost 2 years ago. I did take some profit off the table early on but have not since you have been recomending the stock. So I've got way more than 500% on this one.
Knowing stock weightings are personnal what maximum percentage of each small cap should we limit our risk to for such stocks as PNG or VNP or ZDC for example. Also what would be a reasonnable proportion of a total portfolio devoted to small caps do you see as reasonable (and somewhat conservative). Thank you
Q: Based on responses to previous questions on PNG's acquisitions, I'm trying to understand the dynamics of what might happen to the stock price going forward. The closing of the new share issue at $8.50 should close around March 12 and if I have it right, the shares will be active when the deal closes, expected in the April - June timeframe. The new issue has brought the share price down to the issue price as you previously indicated it could. Once the issue closes this week, is the weight lifted from the stock price and could it start to react positively or negatively to the deal? It seems the market likes the deal so is it reasonable to assume the share price might start recovering the 75 cents it lost starting after issue close? I realize there are no absolute rules as to what might/will happen.
Q: Trying to understand PNG acquisition and your comment about expected price pullback by 75 cents. I believe there is mention in offer of new shares being issued at 8.50 and I assume the 75 is the different from where it was trading around 9.25 and the 8.50 figure. Can you explain this? Are these shares part of the offer? Why would the price now back off? Your explanation that the deal looks good and should generate more interest all makes good sense. I agree that things look even better now for PNG.
Q: With the announcement yesterday, what could go wrong? What is the worst case scenario? And conversely, what is the best case scenario? You recently indicated the stock price might move to $10. Now with the acquisition, where do you feel it will be a year from now? 5i has been bullish on the stock. Has the acquisition changed this opinion? It certainly has performed very well - thank you.
Q: Hi There! Given the huge deployment of drones in Iran, what are some other Drone Mfg. Stocks? Also, why are all Memory stocks like MU dropping today?
Q: PNG trading was halted late yesterday and I'm assuming it had to do with the post-market close announcement of Kraken's $615 million purchase of Covelya Group. I know PNG is a stock that is highly favoured by you right now and as such, am confident you have a better understanding of the purchase. Could you please provide your expertise on what we should see from PNG stock price short term, as well as what your overall thoughts are (good and or bad), for this acquisition? It's not really a small purchase, (it looks like just over 21% of PNG's market cap as of March 3rd close. Thanks for all your insights as always. Cheers, Don
Would appreciate your thoughts on PNG regarding their announced purchase of Coveyla group.
On the surface it makes alot of sense to acquire a complementary business that adds to their market share/ revenues/profits.....but the fact that they had to borrow a $150 million and issue approx. 41 million shares to finance it is concerning.
Do you see this as a net positive?
Have their been any similiar acquisitions in the industry that have worked out well?
Q: Knowing portfolio weights are personal to each.... If you held PNG in YOUR portfolio, what would be the highest weight YOU would be comfortable with?
Thanks
Q: What are your top 5 growth stocks? Can you provide a couple of compelling reasons why each makes the grade and also rank them from highest to lowest conviction. Finally can you indicate where you feel the stock price will be 12 months from now.
Q: Please rank these growth stocks for a hold over the next 3 years.. After reading some of your comments I am thinking of selling GRID and replacing with ELVA. Other suggestions would be appreciated. As always thanks for your insights. Stephen
Q: I have small 'starter' positions in these stocks , all still in the black with the exception of smallish losses in GLXY and KTOS, Most are in non-registered accounts. I have some spare cash and would like to increase position sizes. Are there any that you would add to at this time or would you continue to keep your powder dry for now ? Also, are there any that you feel should be let go ?
Thank you, as always.
If so, what would your current ranking be? Or if it's a better question, what would your ideal 5 stock portfolio be?
Replace with other industrial stocks as desired.
Would you agree that industrials look good going forward? And any preference to Can/USA focus for the sector right now?
Q: Looking at adding to 2 areas - stocks that might benefit from increased defense spending in Canada, and stocks in the metals sector. How would you rate these stocks on a scale of 1 to 10 for a buy at this time? 10 being something you like a lot, 5 if you are indifferent, and 1 if you have zero interest in owning it. ARIS, CS, HBM, OGC, PAAS, SVM for metals and CGY, FTG, MDA, PNG for defense related.
