Q: Hi, for an income portfolio, I am looking to add either HTA or TXF. Just not sure which one to choose (in a cash account). TXF is a larger fund and has more liquidity, a higher distribution % as well as a lower MER. On the other hand, HTA had double the return of TXF in 2021 and 5% more in return in 2022. Their portfolios is not exactly the same but similar. Can the difference in their respective portfolio explain the outperformance of HTA since 2021? Which one should offer the better total return in the next few years? Thanks.

Q: With the strength of the US$ and problems China has been having ZEM has been on a downward slide. I hold it in my RRSP along with ZSP and PID and some laddered GICs. Am wondering if it’s time to move on from emerging markets and add to PID or another Intn’l ETF.

Thanks!

Q: How would you invest ‘23’s $6500 TSFA allowance? Is there 3 or 4 North American stocks you would buy tomorrow? DCA over the next month into one name? Not concerned about sector or risk - 10 year investment horizon.
Thinking SHOP, BN, NVDA and GOOG. All of which I own today and are down from when I purchased.
Appreciate your thoughts.

Q: Top growth suggestions for early January TFSA?
Q: The top 10 holdings (50% +) have a dividend yield of 0 to 4 % yield. The ETF shows a yield of 8.46%. Could you explain the discrepancy ? I like the sector. Beside HHL could recommend a other ETF.
Q: I had asked a question about a year ago about companies of interest for EV investing and I had not mentioned WBX but your answer came back as ranking it #2 out for 4 companies. Since then it has tanked more than 80%. Could you update your opinion on this company and share your insights of why it has faired worse than the others despite your ranking,

Q: While normally one of my favourite choices on a "buy it and forget it" basis, TRI seems extremely highly valued at this point. Would I be better off at this point exchanging my 7% holding of TRI for a combination of BNS, SLF, and T?

Q: Hi Peter,
In 2023, when do you predict would be a good time to move from money market funds to bond ETFs such as VAB and AGG? On the fixed asset side of the portfolio, there is an even split between money market funds and a GIC step ladder.
Also, what would be a good indicator(s) for identifying a long-term downturn in interest rates in Canada?
Thanks, and have a great New Year!

Q: Thanks to the 5i team for all the great work amongst a very tough 2022! I wish you and yours all the very best for the new year.
I really appreciated and learnt a lot from the various indices/metrics that you used in your market update emails, especially circling back in the most recent one to update the trends. Looking at the various indexes you explored last year, it made me wonder if there was an index or metric that tracked digital advertising to look at trends through time (e.g., have things bottomed and more are spending on digital advertising). As a holder of companies like Google, Digital Turbine, and The Trading Desk, I am interested to know if there is an index/metric out there to follow trends in digital advertising. If there is, could you use it to suggest what the general status of digital advertising is and how it might help inform adding to positions of GOOG, APPS, TTD, and others (if you have higher conviction names to suggest).
Thanks so much for all you do and wishing everyone a strong investment year in 2023.

Q: Your thoughts on AFRM? Would you put some money to work here if you assume the Fed 'pauses' in a couple of months?
As alway, thanks for your great input.

Q: I have been gifted this bond ETF in a margin account. I know little about bonds, and wondered if I should keep this ETF or if there is another bond ETF that you would recommend in this challenging economic climate? Thanks for all your guidance during these unprecedented times.

CarParts.com Inc. (PRTS)
Q: Happy 2023 after learning the hard way in 2022 that growth is not always the best rewarded investments. Anyway this shall pass too. My question is about the impact from the interest raise that may potentially slow down buying new cars. It seems to me that the car parts retailers such as Carparts.com that sells “aftermarket auto parts and accessories” may be a good bet for 2023.
Most people in the U.S. simply don’t have a reason to spend money on a new car during the current, uncertain macro environment. Consequently, they will repair their current vehicles if they have problems.
What do you think of my theory? Are there any public Canadian company doing the same as PRTS? Please be free to suggest any other way to play the theme and place your suggestions in your preferred order and your rational.
Thanks a Million$
Yves

Q: Happy New Year to the 5i Team. I enjoyed Lightspeed on its ascent in my TFSA, and suffered buying back too early. I believe, supported by some analysts, that it has a future. Should I take my lumps, sell LSPD and invest the proceeds to increase my position in BN to 4%, or continue to hold LSPD. Which stock does 5i feel will generate the best overall return over the next 5 years?
