Q: Some argue that the Biden climate agenda will be positive for uranium prices, but today (June 14) CCO's market cap is taking a substantial dive on (to my knowledge) no news, nor even an analyst downgrade. Any idea what's going on?

Q: As a TD Waterhouse user, I received a notification from them this morning that TD had pulled the Q4 IPO. TD gave no reason, and I've been unable to find any other information. I hadn't asked to subscribe to it, but I'm curious about what happened since it was so widely touted. Do you have any insight? Thanks.

Q: My brokerage does not seem to support purchase of PDYPF, at least not online. What are the taxation implications of purchasing Flutter's PDYPY ADR version in a TFSA? Some sites warn of double taxation with ADR versions.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Several recent IPO offerings have been withdrawn by the issuer, including LMPG and Q4. Are there specific reasons or is this part of a general trend?
Q: Hi 5i, What is the break fee, if CN gets the STB approvals? I see CP as being in a "No Lose situation, If they don't get KCS on refusal by STB they walk away with the break fee. Also If CN gets these assets it opens the door for a large US railroad to attack like a pack of hungry wolves to take over CPR. The politicians might have their heads explode if that happens. Does the Canadian government cabinet have to approve either of these deals?
Q: This morning Sam asked a question about "compound machine" companies. I would appreciate a definition of "compound machine". Thank you.
Q: Hi, would you see this company as a good buy today? In your view do you see it as a long-term or short-term play? Thank you!
Q: Basil III comes into affect this year. From a piece in Seeking Alpha on Basil III I read:
QUOTE:
To sum up, gold will become a risk-free Tier 1 asset and it will become more expensive to buy and sell unallocated gold. These factors are highly bullish for physical gold. So, investors in this precious metal will be generously rewarded, provided they buy physical gold. But let me explain this in a bit more detail.
Under Basel III, gold would become a Tier 1 asset or a zero-risk asset, for banks. As mentioned in the Basel III framework,
...at national discretion, gold bullion held in own vaults or on an allocated basis to the extent backed by bullion liabilities can be treated as cash and therefore risk-weighted at 0%. In addition, cash items in the process of collection can be risk-weighted at 20%.
END QUOTE
What affect will this have on Sprott's holdings of gold and on my ownership of shares in PHYS? If it is positive I should be buying more. Right?
Thank you...

Q: Hi 5i team,
I'm trying to decide between Go Easy (GSY) and ECN Capital, both of which have been on terrific runs. How do you view their current valuations, their prospects for further growth and risks involved with each and how will rising interest rates affect their businesses? Finally, which would prefer currently if you had to make a choice?
Thanks for your great service.
Bob

Q: Dear 5i,
Your ENGH report dated August 27, 2020 stated insider ownership of 22%.
I looked at the insider information on the company provided by your web site and could not find a statistic for current %insider ownership but, I did see %institutional ownership. Where can I find this information? It looks like insiders have been selling lately. Can you please tell me the current %insider ownership.
thanks

Q: If I were to buy a stock today for income and growth , would it be Fiera ?…( NO ! ).
The Schmo of the 5i Income Fund @ 26% down, and stuck in a sideways purgatory. I realize it pays 8% , but we bought high ( you usually warn us against high dividends ) . Are we just parking money here, or do you think we should take a loss and move on ? Thanks .

Q: Peter,
Is SEDAR the only sure fire source for call dates on pref shares? I find the company's own website does not always make it clear. I find L.Pr.B a bit of an oddity. It is yielding 5% with a call date of June 2024 from what I can see. Most p/s are now yielding less than 5%. Is this with this issue because of the duration of time to call?
Thank you
Paul

Q: Hi - PKI dropped over 2.5% today (6/14) and nearly over 4% combined with its correction on 6/11. Is this a normal aberration in its share price given it paid out its dividend for for June earlier today? The company supports a 5% DRIP so wondering if the near-term weakness exhibited is associated with its monthly dividend? Thank you.
Q: Am considering selling my TFSA shares of DND and adding to the a small position of GSY and/or NVEI. Your thoughts on this or do you have another stock that might be added to my 2 choices.
I’m not too sure on their logic in going private, was it a way of testing the market to see if other companies were interested?
Thanks to 5i in keeping me on track and giving your great knowledgeable opinions. John
