Q: I did reorganize all my portfolio for a dividend focused portfolio , and already did sell most of the stocks for selected ETFs ,except the 12 stocks mentionned.I wish to only keep 12 "financially safe stocks" on long term + at low risk of dividend cut.If those 12 stocks do not all match this objective, wich ones could be sold and then replaced by what individual stock suggested ? regards,JY

Q: Wondering if it is time to trade T. Been reading about NWC and wondering if this is a good dividend stock to replace T. Are there other dividend stocks you would recommend.

Q: These 9 companies are the holdings in a growth oriented Canadian TFSA. The intent was for them to be long-term holds. However, NVEI, ILLM and LSPD are all down over 50% and some so rejigging is being considered.

Would you consider any of them to be a SELL?

Of the 9, which 2 would you be least inclined to keep in the portfolio and why? Please suggest potential replacements.

Please rate (1-10) the remaining 7 for additional money today.

Thank you,

Peter.

Q: I sold TRP today at basically a break even price because I do not want to wait out the final outcome of their recent split up plan and to see how their debt is allocated etc. I was in the stock for long term income given I am recently retired. It will be hard to find an equivalent yield, given capital preservation is a prime objective along with the income. TRP was held in a non registered account for tax advantaged dividend income.

With long term capital preservation a goal along with income generation, and that I hold all of the above listed companies already in appropriate proportions and don't wish to add to them or their sectors (no more utilities, financials or telecoms) what other Canadian blue chip dividend companies would you consider for long term hold with decent dividends for income? I also already have enough allocated to bonds, GIC's and cash accounts so I'm not considering these assets either.

Manageable debt levels and ability to maintain dividend growth, hopefully at the rate of inflation or higher is the main criteria I would hope to have in replacing TRP for the long haul. Thank you for your valued insight in giving me suggestions to look at.

Q: Are etfs the best way to incorporate a Japan exposure into one's portfolio? If so, which do you recommend as the best combination of dividend/growth? Thanks.

Q: I hope you can provide some insight. I have done very well in the markets, generally following your suggestions and portfolio stocks. My stocks however, have tended to lean into a much larger weighting in Canadian oil stocks and I am a big fan of Eric.
My question is I would like to diversify a portion 5-10% into coins/precious metals. Do you agree, and is it a good strategy to go with Sprott or some other reputable dealer and accumulate coins or should I buy bullion or?
Thank you for a great service!

Q: I was very impressed with the speed at which Datadog developed new modules for the I/T Infrastructure management and was able to quickly grow sales of adjacent products into customers. Somehow, I built it into my top portfolio position (15%). I get the sense that the company has gone out of favour for a few reasons (growth rate, and margins I think). Should I have faith in my original thesis or should I sell at break-even? I suppose I could sell some, but I'm trying to keep a streamlined portfolio so I have fewer companies to keep on top of. Any thoughts and opinions on DDOG are most appreciated! Thanks.

Q: IDVO , Amplify International Enhanced Dividend Income ETF (not in your data base) looks interesting. It is actively managed by Kevin Simpson who *usually* makes sense. Simpson also manages DIVO. Concentrated ETF. Question: Am I unwise to give preference to ETFs with less than a hundred companies?

IDVO seems thinly traded and hasn’t been around long. I would appreciate your insight, and thoughts, very much. Is this a good vehicle at current prices for additional diversification with a good dividend. If not IDVO, do you have a different ETF for international exposure?

Q: Peter; My 25 year old granddaughter is interested in buying gold- she’s a CA already and is now working in M&A with an accounting firm. Any suggestions as to how to “ buy” gold for her age and time frame would be appreciated. Thanks.
