The infomercial on his tool to essentially time the market is puzzling on many levels.
- Is the performance valid to your knowledge?
- If a system can accuratly predict industries or stocks that will fall or rise in the next several months, what if everybody use it. What would be the impact on the market. Something like a self fullfiling prophecy? So people in on the system would sell or buy at the same time rendering the system useless because it could not predict the timing anymore.
- Why selling it when you can make money of it and maybe jeopardize it?

I know 5i would not comment on specific analysts but in general what would be your caveats on these kind of stock picking tools sold on the market?

Q: Edenbrook Capital today released their most recent letter sent to Absolute Software raising concerns regarding Crosspoint bid and Absolutes discussions and release of import background information to public shareholders. What is your take on this situation and what is your opinion on the likely outcome of this process?

Q: Further to my earlier question regarding covered calls, can you please suggest some higher volatility US names that would be suitable. Your 2015 CMS article advises the use of companies with no debt and excess cash that are more volatile than the market. I would imagine this points mostly to mega cap tech names, but some diversity in the list would be appreciated. Thank-you.

Q: I noticed that LIF had dividends paid as follows: April past-50 cents, January past 70 cents, last October 1.00 and last July 90 cents.

So was this a dividend cut in April, or were the other amounts special dividends?

Q: Hi,

I read the piece by Salmaan Farooqui in The Globe and Mail on Saturday, 3rd June , about AI assisted Portfolio mgmt called Portfolio Pilot by Global Predictions. What do you think of it. Do you see folks like you and similar services that offer features that include portfolio analysis will either buy into services offered by such AI driven companies or adopt AI by some other means? I am still in the early stages of exploring it. Afterall it is free!

Q: This weekend’s WSJ quotes Sun Communities as saying that while there are 11.2mm RV-owning U.S. households, there are only 1.7 sewer/water/power hookups for them to park at. Do current North American demographics suggest a strong future for SUI? If so, is it the strongest option in the Snowbird/alternative residence space?

Q: I hold SNPS at a 2.01% weighting in the total portfolio. And in the US only portfolio, SNPS weighting is 5.04%. The other two individual portfolios are Income and Balance.  SNPS has risen quickly lately....and my reading is that it is related to AI as its "software automates the chip design process, enhancing design accuracy, productivity, and complexity in a full-flow end-to-end solution" But there is chatter that the current price, $449, is way above the fair value that might be as low as $310. Question for me....do I trim back or just ride this out??

I got to the party late on CCL.B (avg. cost $65) and PBH (avg cost $120). SIS did well at first (avg cost $8). You have all 3 as B+. Over the last 5years none of the 3 has done much. Would appreciate your thoughts on why to continue to hold and any catalyst that could get them going.

I'm confused. I have chosen two of several alerts I received on DOO.

TD: Analyst Brian Morrison lowered his price target on shares of the Canadian recreational vehicle manufacturer to $100 from $135 following its Q1 results for fiscal 2024 on Thursday. "It is our view that management is excelling at items within its control in a challenging environment, but that macroeconomic headwinds may linger and potentially intensify, thereby clouding earnings visibility," Morrison said in a note to clients.

National Bank is maintianing its Outperform rating and $143 price target. "We concede that BRP shares could remain in check due to ongoing economic uncertainty, but we believe that BRP will continue to gain market share in the coming years as it aggressively invests in new products."

I know you don't really follow non North American stocks closely but wonder if you have any thoughts on the Swedish bank Svenska Handelsbanken and its valuation right now? It seems to near a 5 year low in terms of stock price yet seems to a conservative bank with a decent yield.
