Q: I trade with CIBC and recently they reduced their settlement days from 3 to 2. In this case what would be this year's final stock sell day to qualify for tax loss selling? I assume it would mean December 28 for 2017. Am I right?

Q: If we are to believe that history is our best teacher, what in your opinion, were the major factors that contributed to the Dow Jones Sell off in Aug 2015 and Jan 2016? Was it mainly global financial events re Greece and China? What are the best tools to monitor the events that could lead to a similar correction? Thanks for your wisdom. Use as many credits as required, as I have 143 left. :)

Q: Hi Peter,

Yesterday's announcement by NeuLion that they have reached a deal with Fortress Investment Group to sell certain DivX assets has resulted in the stock jumping about 25% today. The scuttlebutt is that they are trimming down to focus on opportunities involving their OTT technology, and possibly to make the company more saleable to a bigger player. Any thoughts on this, and might it be a good time to buy?

Q: If I sold shares on Nov 22 (settlement date Nov 24) and realized a capital loss can I buy the shares back on Dec 21 as the settlement date is after Dec 24th?

Q: Good morning and Merry Chrstmas 5i. Your past comments on Pure indicate that you believe there is a very low % of a better offer. I would tend to agree accept for the current price of the shares being so close to the offer price. Shares have traded above 8.90 since the offer and today shares hit 8.99. Obviously a buyer at that price would have to believe there is more at play here. Has your view changed based on this?

Recent PR from IPL regarding the 3.5 B project is confirmed, Market doesn't like it with SP down 7% in two days, at least for short term reaction. interesting, PPL's December Corp Update Ppt, showing " Pembina is proposing development of a world-scale, integrated PDH/PP facility in Alberta's Industrial Heartland " Here is the question, :
Is the same project (PP/PDH facility) or different ones ?
If the same one then IPL decided to go ahead, would PPL take it off from its to do list ?
As PPL's 2018 Budget doesn't show any major spending on PDH/PP project and still showing in progressing... no final decisions... .
