Q: Hi!

Often a big dividend means danger. Why is this not the case with ENB which is sporting a %7.3 yield right now?

Also...again...I seem to have missed some great price moves. Any others stocks that feel "due" for an upward move?

Q: Hi, We have held a full position in ENB for many years and added a 1.5% position in TRP about a year ago, at $60-61, in a Non-Regd account, for Income/Growth.The investment, however, has been a huge disappointment. The endless cost issues with Coastal Link pipeline project and no clear timeline is now widely known. Are you aware of any catalysts in the near future ?

Over numerous comments, you have clearly indicated your preference for ENB and there being no particular need to own both companies. Based on the current scenario, would you support moving out of TRP ? Now or wait for the quarterly results ?

And, if we decide to sell the whole position ( and at least book the capital loss), what would be a reasonable price level you would use?

Q: The dividend currently appears to be at an all-time high. Are there currently any concerning factors that Telus might reduce its dividend? If you believe that the stock is not likely to lower its dividend, what would be the factors that would lead to a dividend decrease? And what would need to happen for Telus to lower its dividend?

Q: Hello 5i team,
I am wondering if I should add (or sell) to these two stocks since they are down significantly. Telus is down because of the TIXT forecast. How much of TIXT is owned by Telus? T is almost at where I purchased the stock so my question is if there is a better telco I should purchase other than Telus for income?

Also what is the reason that NBLY is down so much? Is it simply market patience or is there something more fundamental that investors do not like about this stock?

Q: BAM, BEP and EIF are each at about 2.7% of my total holdings. I can top up one to 5%. Which would you choose and why? And if the answer is 'none of the above', please suggest two Canadian companies with dividends >4% with some growth you would recommend, irrespective of sector. Q: Hi, Thanks for sharing your recent views on Telus, based on the T/TIXT, reduced guidance. In your opinion, and based on recent commentary, how long it might take for TIXT to overcome the pressure on its revenues/profits and in turn, stop being a drag on its parent Telus ? The issue is that even if Telus continues to report great numbers for its core business, TIXT pressure will likely keep a lid on share price of Telus and dividend alone will not be enough to cover it.

Considering the opportunity cost of the capital for this time period, we would like to offload full or at least half of our position, over next few days, in 2/3 tranches.

Q: I recently shorted some puts on VZ with the idea of locking in a "decent" ($34) purchase price and making a few $$ in advance of the next dividend. The lead wire scandal seems to open up VZ and the other telecom carriers to punitive lawsuits akin to the situation with MMM and the earplugs. Given the seemingly inevitable assignment of my puts and the grindingly long-term nature of U.S. group personal injury claims, and the words of the Clash, "Should I Stay or Should I Go?". I am a retired income investor who, at 62, still needs inflation resistance.

I'm wondering what your thoughts are regarding Telus' reducing 2023 guidance. I've had it for a while and while price is under my buy in as of today's drop, dividends cover that. Do you think the reaction today is overdone, or is it time to move to something more profitable? I'm an active investor, so tend to follow the momentum. I am concerned T has been steadily losing momentum since last May 2022 and am thinking with this change in fundamental outlook, that trajectory will continue for a while. Dividends are nice to have, but are not worth having if the stock's price continues to deteriorate. It would be interested to know what you would suggest as a replacement at this time? BCE, NVDA, GOOG, MSFT, WSP, Cdn banks are all currently owned, no Health Care exposure and what seems like too much energy exposure lately. Add to something? Find something new? Cdn or US doesn't matter. Sorry - lots of questions here, so deduct accordingly.

Q: Hi,

Can you tell me more about this ETF? Their annual dividend is 10.295% as per tmx money and looking at their holdings are solid dividend paying blue chip companies.Since June 2021 their dividends are increasing. Is this worth investing for income and is dividend safe?
