Q: Hello All,

A strategy occasionally mentioned is to consider buying at 52 week highs because it suggests continuing upward momentum .

I am following a few names which keep rising however am loathed to buy at this time because of the possible threat of a market correction.

Would you be willing to suggest any companies that you would almost certainly be buying, into recent highs, despite the looming threat?

Thank you

Q: Leaving other factors aside (eg taxes etc), within a well diversified portfolio would you be ok with selling CIX and TECK.b in favour of buying WCN and DOL? Basically I am asking if you think these latter two (at current valuations) might outperform the former in what I expect to be a somewhat moderate to deep recession? Thanks!

Q: Hi!
I got into CIX a few months ago at around $20. I am happy to hold and wait to break even at least. Would you be able to suggest how long that will wait will be? Also, are the fundamentals still in place for CIX for the market to pay $20 for CIX.
Not to worry...it wasn't a massively concentrated position or anything! : )

Q: I recently sold Fiera as a tax loss and am thinking of Canaccord as a replacement in my income portfolio.
Your thoughts on CF and what are the risks vs. other financials? Do on you have another recommendation in mid-cap financials?

Q: The company's has undertaken an acquisition strategy. Initial quarterly results have just come in. Do you feel this is a viable strategy and where could CIX be in 5 years? That said, at this price point ($14.30 or so a share) and a healthy dividend, could money be made on the stock over the next 2-3 years? Is $30 a share doable? Thank you

Q: Happy Friday,

With the current dip and a further downside expected are there any income equities that you would classify as very attractive.

Looking for some new ideas. I have lots of banks, pipes, telcos, utilities, insurance cos, etc. but am not immune to buying more.

Anything in the US really strike you fancy?

Thanks very much and have a great weekend.

Q: Hello 5i

You are often asked if you could provide 2-3 "bargains" from the various portfolios - could you, given the current environment, provide
- 2-3 from the balanced / Income portfolios
- 2-3 outside of the portfolios (either Canadian or US please)
That you would consider a good opportunity to pick up at this time.

Thanks

Q: In an answer earlier this year, you mentioned IGM as having "turned itself around"; did you mean (for example) changes in its business practices, or its break-out from its pre-pandemic trading range? In another answer, you spoke of CIX's "high leverage to capital markets"; how do CIX, FSZ, and IGM compare in this respect? You've characterized the sector as "fairly cheap, with not a whole lot of organic growth and lots of pressure on margins"; given this backdrop (and assuming the sector is even investable), is IGM's relative market cap (3X CIX, 10X FSZ) a material reason to prefer it over the other two? Or is CIX's depressed share price (and implied growth-potential) more decisive?

Q: Hi!

In The Globe recently:
"On March 4, chair of the board of directors Bill Holland bought 50,000 shares at a price per share of $20.20 for an account in which he has indirect ownership (WH Corp.), increasing this particular account’s position to 1,325,000 shares. The cost of this purchase exceeded $1-million.

Last month, we reported that Mr. Holland invested over $4.4-million in shares of CI with the purchase of 200,000 shares between Feb. 3 and Feb. 23.

Mr. Holland is CI’s former chief executive officer.

The company pays its shareholders a quarterly dividend of 18 cents per share or 72 cents per share yearly, equating to a current annualized yield of approximately 3.7 per cent."

What would you value CI right now on a per share basis?
Given the present investing environment would full position be a good idea?
Is management trustworthy and effective?
Is the insider buying significant enough to copycat?

Thank you as always!
