Not always thru unfortunately.
At NBDB, if you have CSU, FNV, OTEX, NTR in US account the fees fx/x conversion are double, because NBDB said it receive dividends in Ca$ from their agent (or custodian). I will complain to the Ombudsman.
At Scotia-ITrade they said the dividends are in Canadian by default because its a Canadian corporation, but they deny that dividends are payed in US$. The agents don't understand (or not competent)
At BMO said they dividends as paid in US$ if the stock is in US account, I feel some uncertainty on this answer but maybe true
VB said "This will only happen for two reasons at Virtual Brokers. First, if you do not have an U.S. side open in your account. Second, if the company trades on Canadian exchanges and pays the dividends in U.S. dollars we convert it to Canadian". Its clear. The G&M gives to VB best discount broker.

Q: Just read that New York City Transit has awarded NFI with a contract for 15 low floor sixty-foot battery-electric, zero-emission, heavy-duty transit buses. Is this a substantial order?

NFI always makes this type of announcements and that seldom move the share price, but this one seem to have a positive effect on it today. Especially the announcement was made after closing, interesting. Your take? Thanks.

Q: I'm looking for 3-5 names to add to an income focused, unregistered account. Already hold BNS, ENB, SPB & RY. I have a higher than average risk tolerance and have a near term focus (have other long term accounts and 15-20 years before retirement). I have considered CSH, CHP, BCE, BEP.

According to John Affleck, a sport journalism professor at Penn State, during March Madness, 47 million adults in the US will wager $8.5 billion, including 4.7 million adults for the first time. Much of this betting will be on mobile apps. Is Stars Group a player in this market and if so, how big a player?
How well are they positioned for future growth in the US market?

Say treating it like cash for buying an idea later, why not buy a solid income stock with a good dividend and treat it as a cash account as you say, at least you are getting something. Speaking of cash rich companies, how about buying Apple and hold it for cash, and also a dividend, no shortage of cash there.

Q: Hi ,
This is a follow up question to the March 25th one asking which companies pay dividends in US dollars. As the US dollar dividends are (usually) automatically converted to Cdn dollars when paid into a Cdn held account, would there be an advantage to buy and hold the equities paying dividends in US dollars in a US account? Or do the currency risks outweigh any potential benefits?
