Q: INSG. Recently investors exchanged 10 million of 5.50% convertible senior notes for 2.3 million shares of the companies common stock.
How does this affect the value of the common shares
Q: Hello Peter,
Convention says do nothing in a sharp downturn, although this has the potential to be more like 2008, deep recession included.
What would you say if i were to sell some or all of AFN, MX,FLIR, BAC, GH (US),GIL,TD,CCL and SIS? And buy COST, MSFT, AMZN(GOOGL), DSG(add) and NVDA(orQCOM).? The thesis being, that these would do better from where they are now, over the next 2 quarters. Or just sit tight.
Thanks for your advice.
Regards.
P.S. Which would you prefer- AMZN or GOOGL? NVDA or QCOM
Q: I know you don't know where the bottom is in this market meltdown (I wish you did and could tell us - am I the only one owning stocks right now?), but do you have an idea on what the conditions will look like that will stop the meltdown? In your opinion, is this really all corona virus oriented or are there some other forces at play here, and if so what might they be?
Q: Hi 5i team,
Are there US treasury long term bonds etfs traded on TSX that you will recommend? Are these unhedged with similar return to those traded on US exchanges? Thanks.
Q: Hi 5iTeam, would you please recommend one or more ETFs that are primarily focused on airlines (any airlines regardless of countries in which they are based).
Cheers,
Q: Hi 5i Team,
I am looking for a recommendation of an ETF to invest in US dividends for a non registered account, trading on the TSX. I would like a combination of dividend growers and some higher dividend names in the fund
Q: HI 5i team,
I want to purchase ETF that has Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple as its largest holdings. What's the best choice that you will recommend for Canadian listed etf and for US listed etf? Many thanks.
Q: I'm going to retire next year and have recently received a inheritance. I have this money in a non registered account. PA is telling me that I need more US and international exposure. I'm looking at ETF's with dividends but being non Canadian holding I will not get the tax credit. Should I still look at dividend ETF's and not worry about the tax? I have a low to median risk for these non Canadian ETF's. I have a diversified group of large cap Canadian stocks to take advantage of the dividend tax credit. Can you give me some names to look at buying?
Thanks Greg
Q: Hi Team, My friend was convinced to buy this fund. What can you tell me about its performance, distribution, cost on closing the position & management fee. What better alternative can she consider as first time investor? Exchange traded funds?
Thank you
Q: Good morning - I have owned VUS (CAD hedged US Total Market ETF) for many years in a taxable account. I would like to switch to VTI (the un-hedged version of the same ETF) but would realize a large capital gain. Is there any way an individual could synthetically gain the same USD exposure via a swap or option contract? I would obviously like to avoid high fees to do this. Thanks
Q: Dear Team,
Recently I purchased AC at $49.50 and now it has really dropped. Would you advise to hang on to it and would this even be a good time to purchase more?
Some advice would really be appreciated. It is about 2% of my portfolio.
Thank you,
John G.
Q: Is it possible that in this day and age a major North American exchange (TSX) can be down for better than half the day, when the markets are moving 5%?
There is no much working in the market these days, which I guess is an understatement. Two stocks that are positively correlated with the virus are MRNA and GILD. There is only one dated question on MRNA. It is developing a potential vaccine for the disease. There is a recent question on GILD, but you did not mention the potential of the drug it is developing to treat people with the disease, likely due to how the question was posed. Both companies are fast-tracking their efforts. MRNA seems to have gone parabolic and hence, looks a lot more risky here. GILD was a value trap for years with a poor pipeline but seems to be breaking out now, which I attribute to the potential of the new drug, if it works.
What are your thoughts on MRNA and GILD is view of their efforts to combat the coronavirus?
