Q: Tax loss selling may be setting up GRC as a contrarian opportunity. On the plus side, they eliminated the dividend (stopped the cash drain), they have partnered with other firms (should result in more due diligence on deals), they are trading at a distressed valuation but are still a going concern with a sizable investment portfolio even when allowing for future write-offs. On the negative side they have made changes in the C-suite (maybe good), they have made major strategy changes (maybe good, the old one wasn't so hot), they have done a terrible job communicating with their shareholders in the past (very bad, but they can only improve their communication skills, they can't get any worse then they have been in the past). Overall, although a risky play, the upside seems to out-weight the downside during this tax loss season (it can only go to zero)! I'm Interested in your opinion on this one.

I'd still like to hold (maybe even add to) as they seem to have some interesting technology. Is this an opportunity to add for the long term? Current position is 1.2%, and I'm still in the green despite the drop.

Q: I am looking to by Loblaw in my SDRSP and DBOX in my TFSA. I'm wondering whether I should purchase tomorrow or wait until after the election as I understand markets usually decline after a US election. Also, WRT DBOX should I invest in ZCL in the meantime and wait on DBO? It seems DBO has remained stagnant for a while. Does it need some positive news to move?

Q: In an Investment Brief from ARC they outline their concerns regarding BCE and its' payout ratio. Specifically they feel that if the Special Annual Pension Contribution and M+A expenses were deducted from Free Cash Flow then the payout ratio would be in the 84%-88% range (rather than the stated 69%-72% range). This may limit the ability to continue to grow dividends.

Should this be something to be concerned about? It is currently about a 2.5% weighting in my portfolio. If I were to exit BCE, either partially or completely, would Telus be the only real alternative in the space?
