Q: On April 19 I asked a question about renewal power and you offered bep.un as a likely candidate. My question was more along the lines of, if I am going to move from pipelines towards renewal power in my utilities sector allocations, are aqn and bep.un too similar to have a good representation. I suppose they are no more similar than, say, enbridge and transcanda would be in the same sector. But, would be interested in your take on this question in regard to constructing a renewable energies component under the utilities sector.
thanks once again for your great insight and help

Q: I am wondering why BNS is maintained in the Balanced and Income portfolios instead of TD given that the latter has consistently outperformed. Over 10 years TD price is up 125% and BNS 50%. Given your philosophy of looking for strong momentum would TD not be a better replacement? Some insight into your thoughts here would be useful.
Many thanks.

Q: Greetings :)
TAX LOSS SELLING: I have two separate investment accounts held with two different brokers. I want to sell my loss-making investment from account #1 and buy again in account #2. I understand that tax loss will only be allowed if I don't buy the same stock again within 30 days of the sale. Can I circumvent the 30 day rule by buying that stock in advance in account #2 BEFORE selling from account #1? Does the 30 day countdown commence only from the minute the sale is closed?

I hope that make sense.
Many thanks!

Q: One of the articles you posted recently listed Invesco as a good dividend stock for consideration. What do you think? Does it have a good record of increasing dividends? It has been on a significant downtrend of late - is that likely to turn around in the near term? The Fed looks set to jack us US rates over the next year, so I'm wondering how Invesco would do in that environment. Thanks for you advice.

Q: With Michael's Q on D. Rosenberg interview. What I am curious about was DR's call on the Fed fund rate for next year. He was saying it should be 2.75% now and that this is what it will be next year. As I heard DR he was saying the market is unprepared for this eventuality. So first, do you think that is a reasonable observation i.e. market unprepared for that large a rise? If so, is it enough to cause a 10%-20% pullback?

TIA

Q: Have been watching both companies for an opportunity to buy. They are both showing momentum and would like your opinion on both before I buy.
Would you favor one over the other and what would your reasoning be based on.
I like for both dividends and growth.
Thanks Gary

Q: I own ENB.PR.N and it comes due to reset about the end of this year. I’m down about $4.00 and am wondering what is the prudent thing to do? The reset by my calculation would be similar to the interest I’m receiving now. Is there any advantage to selling or should I keep it at the new rate for the next 5 years and hope for an improvement? I dont imagine it will be called.
Thanks for your input on my problem.

I get a lot from your Q and A. They have given me good guidance through the years.
