Q: I run my own portfolio using Scotia I Trade. The portfolio is of size and I feel I need a more sophisticated platform.
Please refer me to one or two options to consider.

Q: What is the book value?

Q: I see dramatic price declines for most equities in this portfolio. I have never seen a report to sell them or reduce...just the fundamentals are OK ... don't worry. I find there is a repricing going on where PE's used to be 15-25 are now falling to 10-15.
A constant buy thesis based on Company earning fundamentals does not take the PE revaluation into account. Your thoughts?

Q: The Alliance pipeline delivers natural gas from Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and the Willis​ton Basin to the Chicago market hub. The spread in the natural gas price is over 3 dollars. $1.50 in Canada and $4.50 in Chicago.
Question who is making the money on this differencial?

Q: I trade with td Waterhouse and get their Technical alerts via e mail. Dec. 7th. Alert has downgrades on the above noted stocks. ipl- Close 20.92 down to 18.00 range. mre close 10.28 down to 4.75 range. sis close 13.01 down to 8.00 range. Your view on these technical downgrades, and are they fact. Sis was a recent top pick of Ryan Modesto. Should I be selling on Monday?

Q: Good morning team! My son has about $65,000 in RRSP, he's 33 and low knowledge about investing. He contributes $100 weekly into one bmo mutual fund only (classified as growth fund) with a MER of about 2.45% . His personal rate of return for 5 year average is 6.9%. Thoughts please and what is your suggestions based on a limited informations given.

Q: I am a long time subscriber to 5i and long time follower of BNN and one of BNN's best, David Driscoll, mentioned that he could see another 16% down-side on the S & P. Also, awhile back John Zechner mentioned that there are stocks that are like melting ice cubes. Sell them before they are gone. Your opinion? I was always under the understanding that it is one credit per question. Please clarify this. Thank you. Dennis

Any news coming out of this Company? Of course I am in for the long haul despite 5i's decision to drop it from the BP. Seems to have found a bottom despite or because of a lack of information.

Q: Hi guys, my question is, do you think that these three companies would be good "sleep at night" stocks over the next five years, if not, could you mention a few that you think would be? I do realize that there aren't any " sleep at night" stocks these days though, thanks.

Q: I own both of these company stocks and am underwater by a large margin on each. They are both paying consistent dividends, do you think this is a good time to buy in and average down my holdings.

Q: Re: Growth vs Value in market downturn

How do growth stocks tend to perform during market downturns vs value stocks? Does one need to hold a bit of both? If one holds stocks of good companies but have premium valuations..what does one do in a downturn..wait for markets to pick up and do nothing? This is essentially what I am doing. Thank you.

Q: Can you suggest both a Canadian and Global Dividend Growth ETF?

Q: I see these companies are mentioned in today's Globe as being in precarious position! Due to negative EBITDA.
These are some of your favourite sticks, no? I own GUD, BB and FM. Hence my nervousness! Plus I respect Norman Rothery.

Q: A Canadian Investor with over 40 % a portfolio in US securities and additional Canadian companies either doing business in the US or reporting in US dollars. A lot of talk about 2019 being a down year for US dollar against the Canadian dollar.
How does one hedge this risk.

Q: With Bell and Telus being 2 of the prominent defensive stocks out there.Since Japan ,Australia,New Zealand ,Germany,England Usa have either banned or are considering it.It seems irresponsible of Bell andTelus to go full speed ahead.What effect do you think it will have on these stocks.Own a 5% holding in Bell for income.

Q: I have read that if Canada bans Huawei ( I think they may have to) from 5g that the telecoms , Rogers to a lesser degree will have a 1 billion hit as they will have to remove the equipment they have already installed. Now the time for the crystal ball.

If that were to happen , it is a one time hit, probably some tax write offs etc would the market react violently negative.
I own a lot of bce.

Q: If I were to buy this ETF, which account would be best. U.S cash account or a RRSP (CDN) account. Is there a tax advantage.

Q: Further to my earlier question today about the so-called predictive value of the inverted yield curve, I think recent stock market action is not due to such a prediction but more due to journalist hype and general equity anxiety. As pointed out yesterday by Stan Wong on BNN, "An inverted yield curve, where short-term rates are higher than long-term rates, has historically been a precursor to an economic recession. We note however that these (recent; ed.)short-end measures of yield curve steepness have not been reliable precursors to recessions. As a recession indicator, the more reliable yield curve spreads have tended to be those with larger maturity gaps such as the two- and 10-year, which still currently indicates a normal yield curve." I do recognize that your table of two days ago did reference the 2-10 yield gap but I still think if a prediction hasn't materialized in 12 months or so, it isn't much of a prediction.
