Q: good morning - i have a position in LUN which has wandered of late. I do want copper exposure and wonder if LUN is the best company in canada or whether there is a better company at present. So, is it buy, sell or hold my current LUN and what other companies would you suggest? thanks al

Q: Retired, dividend-income investor. Reading lots about supply chain shortages (semi-conductors, copper, steel, etc). How are we best to play this?

Should we consider selecting companies within specific industries (Copper Mountain or Teck comes to mind) or should we go the ETF route (via ZMT or another suggestion via 5iR)?

A dividend would be a bonus. BTW, in the materials sector I already own NTR.

Please list some companies that I can research.

Please list some ETFs that I can research.

Thanks...Steve

Q: I have a two energy stocks (SU & IMO), but I don't have any mining/resource stocks. BNN mentioned both RIO and BHP Group as having good potential and also good inflation picks. I'm thinking about picking up the above two and also LUN and possibly CMMC. Do you see any problems with this combination for a conservative investor?

thanks for the great service!

Paul

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

Ignoring tax consequences, how would you rank CMMC, CS, FCX, and NTR to boost our Basic Materials exposure? The only exposure we have is XMA, which is heavier into gold, but going forward, we're interested in copper and fertilizers.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Q: Good afternoon,

Could you please pass along on how best to take advantage of rising copper prices both using an equity( s) and etf.
Same question as it applies to the semi conductor space.
Please feel free to deduct 2 credits as I have posed 2 questions.

Thank you,
Brad

thank you.

Q: I noticed huge collective volatility in a few stocks that I follow for the period May 13-May 21. Beaten down growth stocks rocketed up; C3.AI up 40%, PLTR up 16% and XBC up 36%, while a typical copper producer CMMC was down about 25%. It looks to me that there is a huge amount of speculative money out there looking for very short term gains, pouncing on anything that looks undervalued and shifting from sectors that have had a good run. I guess that it means that the individual investor has a high probability of getting whipsawed and that long term investors should not be overconcerned with short term volatility. Do you have any comments on this? Thanks, David

Q: Retired, dividend-income investor....normally. Assume I already have a balanced portfolio.

Considering topping up a 90% XIT position (my Technology weighting is 7.5%).....or...buying a small position in Copper Mtn (CMMC)....(my Materials weighting is 5.0)%. Reading prior copper questions indicates that you think there is much more room to run in Copper...for a while. Assume a roughly 1 year holding.

Second question = oil better than copper over the next year or so?

So, I guess the question is = please rank 1 year performance (best to worst) for Technology, Copper, Oil.

Thanks....Steve

The conservative side of me = XIT. The aggressive side of me = CMMC.

Q: Hello Peter and Team
Is it still time to invest in basic material.
I would like to increase my exposure to a reasonable level.
Between CMMC, HBM, LUN or Teck.B what will be your choice, could you rank them for a year exposure.
Thank You
Raouf

Q: Hi,

I'd like to take some positions in copper producers. I have read some of your recent comments on mid cap producers and will be taking positions in 3 of them. I'd also like to get your thoughts on these smaller producers from an article I read recently.
Aura Minerals, Capstone Mining, Copper Mountain, Taseko, Marimaca Copper (note Marimaca symbol would not come up.)
Looking out at each companies FY20 and FY21 potential earnings, Capstone offers the highest earnings potential (from your Companies page data).
I also see that these collectively have had pretty good % moves in the last 3-5 years. I assume this is because of perhaps mines coming onstream/newly developed.
Which of these above companies are most investable? Or do you prefer other juniors to add to this list you? Please list in order of investing preference.
I think I'll get the most torque (albeit risk) by adding mid cap and juniors. My objective is to add 5 copper miners total...3 mid, 2 junior.

Cheers,
SteveMc
