Q: Are there reasonable tax-loss proxies for CTS and TIXT that can be suggested? Thank you!

Q: My TFSA has relatively small positions in these equities for some modest income. Most of my TFSA is positioned for growth. With Sylogist's recent dividend slash and resulting price tumble, I am thinking of taking my lumps on SYZ and redeploying the cash to buy more AX.UN that is value-priced.
What is your opinion?

Q: Hi, I’m thinking of selling SYZ at a loss because I feel it may be in doghouse for quite awhile.
I would add to MG and NVEI which I have half position. Would you have any problems with my strategy, or would you just stay the course? Or maybe just add to one. Thanks

Q: I use my TFSA to buy and hold low-debt, cash flow positive, technology companies with good long-term growth prospects. My TFSA holdings (ENGH, OTEX, SYZ, TCS, AIF, REAL and AT, ranked by weight) total about 8% of my overall portfolio. My holdings in AT and REAL have fallen to about 1% of my overall portfolio, because of their poor performance, versus 2.5% average holding for each stock in the overall portfolio. I am considering the following options:

1. Keep both AT and REAL for a long term (10+ year) hold (i.e. do nothing)
2. Sell one and consolidate into the other for a long term hold (but which one to keep?)
3. Sell both and consolidate into my other TFSA holdings (which one(s)?)

I would welcome your thoughts with respect to each option, given there is no tax loss selling benefit in a TFSA. Thanks!

Q: Looking to sell either SYZ or AQN for a tax loss (will still retain SYZ and AQN in registered accounts). SYZ in an unknown, so I am thinking it may be the better one to get sell. AQN will still pay some kind of dividend and is more likely to improve with time. Would appreciate your comments.

Q: I am interested in you Portfolio Change advice to sell the full position in Sylogist.

Would you consider that it has fallen in accordance to its current value?

Do you believe that the current price is not a “over-swing” of the pendulum?

Would your advice apply to both registered and non-registered holdings?

Do you see further downside to SYZ, or a shift in investment rationale and performance?

Q: Hello 5i
As a value investor, SYZ is sold with a loss. PepsiCo, bought a while ago has an increase by the same amount as the loss. The dividend is 2.6%. If I sell Pepsico what suggestions would there be to replace these that have a signficant dividend? I am a 77 year old value investor with a ten year time frame with stocks and 16 ETF's in all 11 sectors, 6 ETF's of which are covered call. Any suggestions as to this strategy would be appreciated. Please take as many credits as required.
Thank you,
Stanley

Q: Hi, Hope you are able to provide your opinion on this company, after the CC and reviewing today's price action with about 20% drop on large volume. We have owned this stock for income for several years even with poor performance, lately, but liquidated half of our holding at the open today, with a small loss. ( at least capital loss can be harvested). Is there any rationale to continue to own the company, for Growth and if so, what is the level of your conviction with management's plan ? Thank You

Q: I am a 60+ retired income investor,

I consider the above noted equities to be my riskiest holdings.

About 1,000 each - mostly in my cash account.

I understand SYZ reduced its dividend today and of course the issues with AQN.

Still up on AQN. Underwater on all the rest.

Looking for some advice - sell or hold by holding?

And of course any general comments would be appreciated.

Thanks very much.
