Q: With a theoretical projection that a slow-down is nearing, which 5 dividend paying stocks would 5i suggest to your readers that can ride out a market decline and offer a reasonable rate of return on investment?

Q: I am a senior dividend investor, and try to have holdings in the 5% range for dividends from about 15 to 20 stocks. At the moment I am heavy on the pseudo utilities side (PPL, AQN, ENB, RNW), and do not have any core financial holdings. I am looking at trading my AQN for BNS, on the theory that the dividend is similar, and the current short-term upside for BNS is better with any sort of comeback (just surmising from the 52 week highs of each obtained, not any analysis of Payout Ratio or such). I would appreciate your thoughts.

Q: Hello Peter, Ryan and Team,

I was lucky to pick up a decent amount of PXT on December 20, which means that it is now at a 6% weighting of my portfolio. PTX is my only Energy position other than ENB which is more of a utility.

Would you recommend trimming PTX and adding SU, or replacing PTX with SU, or leaving PTX and adding a 2.5% position of SU or do nothing? I like the momentum of PTX at the moment and with a good cash balance, 6x P/E and no debt, it looks like it should have more room to run.

Q: Good morning: If we follow your suggestions to buy and sell in your recent Balance and Income portfolio's, and a lot of members do, the cost of rebalancing is high. In this case nearly a $100 in commissions to sell and buy. Do you account for this when you make your suggestions??
I am also having trouble with your suggestion to buy 1% of this and 2% of that stock. If the goal is to get to 5% over time, that's also a lot of commission fees. There has to be a better way to diversify without paying so much fees.

Q: I have a question. I hold AGT in my TSFA at a price of $31.50/share. My question is how is it legal for the management to be involved in buying out the shares of the company at $18.00 [much lower than when most of us bought in] when they are the ones who were in charge?
I could see a takeover by a group who thinks the shares are undervalued, but how can management be involved? They could have drove down the price through management decisions so they could buy it at a ‘sale’ price and take it private. That’s what it looks like to me.
I am surprised I haven’t heard of a class action lawsuit about this.

Q: Regarding the question on equal weighting, you say that a better case can be made in Canada than in the US for it. One of the reasons that I would probably go for equal weighting in the US rather than market weighting is the high preponderance of FAANG stocks in say, VOO. if they go down en masse , which as you say they haven<t recently, you have problems.
