It seems that the Brookfields are nothing but trouble from a taxable perspective and the new withholding tax may make it worse. The brokers will naturally take the withholding tax and it will be a fight to try to claim it back.

My question however is about the exchangeability of BEP.UN and BIP.UN into BEPC and BIPC. Can these exchanges still be made?

If I get my broker to do the exchanges does this become a taxable capital gains event? If so it is prohibitive for us as we have huge capital gains in both BEP.UN and BIP.UN which would prohibit the exchange.

Any suggestions on what to do?

In each of the following groupings which name do you see as having the largest gain (dividends and capital gain) after a three year hold and, if you would, brief reasons for your choices. Also, if any seem to you a bad idea to buy and pay little attention to for three years, please say so,

Q: I was surprised to see BMO announce a rather large stock issuance after market close today, at about $4 a share below today's closing stock price. They said it was due to the increase in the DSB from 2.5% to 3.0%. I thought all of the big Canadian banks were very well capitalized. Is this going to be an issue for the other big banks? Are we now going to see them all make large stock issuances? Are some more likely than others to need to do this?

The following I don’t feel I need to buy back, unless you feel differently.

The following I would like to buy back ASAP unless you feel otherwise. Considering the state of the market do you think I would need a proxy for the next 30 days?
CRWD, GSY, META, NVEI, ROKU, WELL

The following are stocks I would like to buy back but don’t see the urgency, considering how the market currently views these companies, notwithstanding their financial outlook.

Q: These are my holding inside my TFSA. I am 25 years old and would like to know your opinion on this Portfolio and if you think these are good longterm holdings or if they could be replaced with a better investment (please indicate what company you would replace with). Q: I hold the above stocks in my Unregistered,TFSA,and RRIF accounts. I understand that as of January 1, 2023, the IRS will require a 10% withholding tax when Canadian residents sell US stocks. Does this rule apply to sell any of the above mentioned my stocks ?

2) If I sell above Stocks before end of 2022, will I avoid paying new IRS 2023 10% withholding tax?

Q: This fund was mentioned to me as alternative to bond etf , and i hold a position which is now down approx 8% but the dividends adjusted at 3.35 % have offset that somewhat.
I see previous questions on this etf resulted in your answers being negative due to no diversification and being a very small total dollars fund.
Should i take the loss and purchase something with better recovery potential such as a broader etf, or actual bank stocks as they provide reasonable valuation with better dividends?

Q: Hi,
O&G sector is taking a beating!
Is this downtrend going to be sustained or short lived?
What is your prediction going forward for the O&G sector in general? For the medium term, say one year.
Add to one's position or shed some or stay the course?
The perma oil bulls like Eric Nuttal are saying stay positive! Others especially Technical Analysts seem to be ringing warning bells.
Curious to know where you stand.

Q: Greetings: On a few occasions, I can remember in an answer to a question it was stated that it is best if possible to avoid trading when the market first opens and 30 minutes before closing. Recently, it was stated that a lot of institutional and algorithmic trading is done in these time frames. Wouldn't that provide me with more liquidity, and in turn possible better purchase and sale prices? I cannot find the specific questions and answers, so if I am quoting you incorrectly, please excuse me. Please enlighten me on this subject. Also, could I get a link to Eric Nuttall's appearance on the money show on Dec 1. Thank you. BEN.

Q: I have an overweight in these 3 insurers, and think it might be wise to fix an underweight in CAD banks, by selling one of these and then adding to my banking exposure.
