Q: Over the next two years or so, at least to the end of the current situation, is it best to use new money to buy dividend stocks for total return rather than growth stocks or ETFs???........Tom
Q: I would appreciate your views on Dollar General after it's most recent results and a bit of a pull-back. Is this a good entry point ?
Q: My son is in a position now where he can start to make regular annual contributions to his RRSP. I want to help him set up a basic ETF portfolio that he can just add to every year for the foreseeable future.
He already owns small amounts of XIC and VFV. Would these be appropriate for this purpose? Would you add any others?
Thank you for your invaluable advice, as always!

Q: Good Morning,
You've mentioned FOXF a few times. Could you provide some analysis about what you like about it. The FCF seems a little weak for these markets?
thx, M

Q: Could you please explain what's happening at Blackstone over the past week, and if the risk profile has changed to affect its performance going forward.
If you were planning to buy it for a 2-3 year hold, what would you do now?

Q: I know that for tax relief purposes it would be best to hold US investments(equities) in registered accounts. Due to age I am being forced to deregister and into unregistered and to a lesser extent TFSA's.
Employing ETF's for these and future holdings I have a question relative to ETF's that are sold on the TSX but actually hold units of similar US ETF's. Are these Canadian ETF's eligible for withholding tax relief and or Dividend Tax Credit?
Thanks

Q: hi again
I see a typo in my recent (yesterday) question on RCI.A
"finer line bailout" should read, "fiber line buildout". the thesis is that T and BCE have already built out most of their fiber lines and are thus a step or 2 ahead of RCI.A financially...
could you comment on this specifically too. thanks and sorry for the "auto-typo" via apple OS!

Q: Hello, looking to invest in Nexus Industrial REIT, especially since the drop in price due to a bought deal. I already have DIR.un. In the industrial sector, is this a name you like and if so, why? Thanks.
Q: Would appreciate your views on Canopy.
Q: In the hole on this one. Thoughts on its future? Sell and capture the loss?

Q: Earlier today you mentioned tech as a pretty good etf for holding mainly fang stocks. It got me thinking about my own situation. I own both voo and rsp partly to balance out my technology holdings. I am wondering whether I might be better with something like tech and rsp and selling voo? I like the idea of being a bit overweight in technology stocks and this might be a good way to achieve this. What are your thoughts on this ? Also, i note tech is a Canadian etf. What would be a good US denominated possibility?
Thanks for your expertise

Q: NWC is taking a small beating this morning following a downgrade to "hold". My understanding is that the reason for the "hold" is that the share price got too far ahead of itself. I suspect that 2023 performance guidance will be subdued. Is there anything I'm missing that warrants a drop of over 6% today?

Q: I like Keith Fitzgerald's investing philosophy - "invest in the best, not the rest".
Can you please provide me the best two within the following sectors (please provide your favourite of the two) ? NYSE or TSX-listed:
1. Within the Healthcare sector, I'm interested in specifically Diagnostics as a Service.
2. In the Defense sector. Two companies that continuously improve through technological innovation.

Q: It appears Canada has the potential to take a part in the EV revolution, yesterdays announcemenmt from Volkswagon regarding a possible gigafactory here, and this from todays FP, "Canada has seen at least 10 major electric vehicle-related commitments totalling close to $16 billion since the start of 2021 as federal and provincial governments work to secure investments in the rapidly-evolving sector." For fun lets say all this and more happens, which Canadian companies will have the most to gain?

Q: Hi Guys
Can you explain why LTM Free cash flow shows Cash from Operations @ 551 million less Capital Expenditures 335.2 million equaling free cash flow of positive 216 million.
Why wouldn't it be : Cash from Op 551 million Less Cash from Investing -296.9 million, less cash from financing - 270.8 million for a negative free cash flow of about -15.8 million ?
Thanks Gord
