Q: Hello Folks:
For a number of years I was a satisfied Boeing shareholder, but switched to NOC and RTX when Boeing's problems surfaced (taking a $100.00 hit), subsequently investing in NOC and RTX.
As of today, how would you view and compare these companies potential; I do regret not re-purchasing BA when it was down as it is a strong contender in the industry, however do have companies such as GE in my rear view mirror.
Q: As a retiree, I invest in mostly growth stocks with little or no dividends in my non-registered accounts so as to manage my net income to avoid government clawbacks and high tax brackets. In doing my research, how can I find out how distributions and dividends being paid by a company will be taxed in the hands of shareholders? Do dividends from specific classes of purchased stocks taxed differently?
More specifically, how are the distributions from BAM.A and BEP.UN treated, and are any of these or other Brookfield stocks considered return of capital?
Any recommended reading in this area?
Thanks for your ongoing sound support.
Q: I see IFC has issued a subordinated Note which acts like a rate-reset preferred. It has an 80 year maturity with resets every 5 years based on the 5 year GOC. Is there a movement away from preferred shares as a source of capital or is this just another alternative? Put another way, should I as an investor include these notes in my toolbox for future capital allocations?
It is time for the magical orb to let us know where to invest with a 3-5 year time frame. Everything looks foggy and scary with fairies signaling an impending catastrophe. There may be good deals and then again it could be a mirage and all hell will break loose in coming months. Let's put a happy face on and make a few selections.
Please choose your top 10 stocks in US or Canada to buy or add to today.
Cheers,
Debbie and Jerry
Q: Can you please compare and contrast the pros and cons of investing in each of these stocks in the ad space? How would you rank them from a valuation, risk, and upside perspective? thanks
Q: Hello 5i team,
On the seeking alpha website, they have a press release stating that NFI acquired an order for 46 ZE buses for fleets in Scotland which can be checked on the ADL website (an NFI subsidiary).
Then there is another press release today for 126 ZE buses for Glasgow on the seeking alpha website which is not on the NFI website.
1) Is the second press release true?
2) If both orders are correct, how much does this move the needle in terms of back orders (I am guessing that these orders can be canceled at any time)?
Q: Stelco shares seem too underpriced to be true? Rebuilt/modernized production line, no Cdn competition,, product demand and pricing at attractive levels ( albeit cyclical ), no debt, and p/e = 3 for 2021 , yet it trades at 1/3 Nucor level. What is holding back Stelco ' s share price?
Q: Hi There, can you give me your analysis on Sony? I noticed your analysis 6-9 months ago was quite favourable. Also I understand the shares are available only in ADRs - can you tell me if the tax treatment on theses shares in an unregistered account is a drawback? Thank you.
Q: Credit Suisse got beat up real bad with the current events/news. Would you say it's a buy at its current level? long term hold. (If not of interest, what bank in the USA would you recommend the most and how does it compare to lets say a TD or BNS which i already own). Thank you
Q: Insiders are now buying at Artis prior to the proposed Sandpiper takeover and new (risky?) business plan. I own a sizeable position that is underwater, but the dividends have put me ahead overall. Should I hold or look for an exit?
