Q: Telecomm seems to be performing well, relatively speaking. How would you rank these telecoms for growth, dividend safety and inflation-resistance, in general? Are there other telecoms you prefer? THANKS!

Q: Would you please suggest 5 Canadian companies and 3 US companies that have dividend yields of at least 3.25% annually that have a high probability of capital preservation over a five year time frame? Thanks for your great advice,

Q: My wife has $75,000 to invest in her TFSA, in which she is also holding 100 shares of TD Bank along with 100 shares of TD in an RSP. She is retiring in a month has a defined pension plan, CPP, OAS. But she is still looking for dividend income either monthly or quarterly to supplement her income.
We are looking at going with "Beating the TSX Portfolio 2022" but also looking at ZWU and ZWC which look like they could bring in more income but higher fees. What are your thoughts? Thank you.

Q: In my TFSA, I have enjoyed the returns of CM, BMO, SLF, SIS. Not so much GUD and XBC. However, still good news. Am thinking of adding one of ANRG, ATA or T.
Very balanced otherwise, willing to take on risk. Please rank or should I add to the conservative side. Please free to suggest others....CTS? Well?

Q: I hold all 3 in a non-registered account, and spin-offs from U.S. companies can bring unnecessary complications at tax time (86.1 elections requiring paper tax filing) - I just want to avoid that whenever possible. Given market efficiency theories, the value of the spin-outs 'should' be in the stock close to spin-out time. Given that, does your Bloomberg advise as to when the ex-dividend dates will be for the spin-outs of these 3? Thanks very much....

Q: I have a position in T I have been holding for years for the dividend which was cut with more cuts on the horizon.
I plan to sell and replace with Verizon. I am thinking T will drop further in December due to tax loss harvesting. With this in mind is it better to sell it now or wait until the new year.

Q: Is there a Scorecard or Rating Agency, that tracks the long-term performance of different Rating Agencies and Analysts ?
On the extremes; "T" has a 50% + spread in target prices, maybe rightfully so.
The different Poles here, are two widely used Analysts. One of which is to be vastly proven wrong, pending they scramble to adjust.

Q: Good Morning
This morning Peter McKeough is recommending that T is a buy. He is forecasting a 7.7 Price /Earnings ratio for the 2021 earnings.
Is this the right time to average down on this stock?
I will appreciate your insight as always.
Thanks

Q: Hello 5i,
With all the recent changes at AT&T is it still a good hold? I've had it for a number of years and am still about level. The dividend has been good which helps but less now.
Thanks for your excellent service.

Q: On May 19, 2021 you suggested that those who hold AT&T should continue to hold. Do you still recommend holding this stock? I own this stock for more than 10 years and I am wondering whether to sell and cut my losses.
You also suggested that the dividend could be cut in half. Has AT&T decided what would be the new dividend?
Thank you for your insight.

Q: I am considering buying Telus in the Telecom sector, as I reduce my CPD holdings. Already own ENB, BAM, BRK.B, RDS.B.
With long term growth & financial stability in mind, please rank your preference in the North American telecom companies listed.
Also please advise if there are any small/medium sized companies in this sector worth considering. Thank you!

Q: Hi Everyone at 5i! I hold AT & T shares and have done so for a while. I am underwater in this holding and considering the upcoming deal, would you recommend still keeping the stock? There is a strong suggestion that the dividend will be cut. My alternative thought would be to sell out and invest in the QQQ for a long term hold. Your insight would be welcome! Cheers, Tamara

Q: Hello, I bought shares of AT&T eight years ago. I am still holding the stock because of the dividends. What does the deal with Discovery concretely mean for the average investors? Will AT&T change name? Will I get shares of Discovery? Should I sell my AT&T shares or just keep them and wait? I just do not know what to do now. Thank you

Q: I hold both in a non-registered account, and I'm always concerned about U.S. companies doing spin-outs, because it invariably requires an 86.1 election with the CRA, because the total value of the spin-out is included in the current year's T5. While the 86.1 election will defer the tax for another time, it requires paper-filing, including a letter with your tax return that explains what you're doing, and I'd rather avoid it if I could. Do you know if the new company that will be created with AT&T's assets will be spun-out to existing AT&T shareholders, or does AT&T just receive the $45B mentioned today, and that is it?
Thanks very much...
