Q: Hello Peter,
How do you view the earnings report from Altagas? Do you think it was better than what market has priced for? My conundrum is this. With a 4.7% dividend and an average price estimate of 22.10 we are looking at an approx return of 10% with the risk factor reduced considerably - rate cut by BoC, current quarter performance and deleveraging. However, I can take a tax loss and put the money in BEP which I do not own. What would you suggest?
On FSZ, you have a B+ rating for a dividend in excess of 7% and above average growth prospect within the sector. An answer to a question recently, you seem to think that it is strictly income. When I look at the average analyst price estimates of 15, that is about 40% upside. With the dividend factored in, that would be a steal. I have held it for a few years and down on it a bit. Even if you do not agree with the analysts on price, would you still factor in some growth and hence would you modify your opinion - buy for dividend, stability, growth and a 15-20% total return?
Appreciate your opinion as always.
Regards

Q: Hi 5i,
I hold both NFI and COV in a cash account. I am looking at purchasing both at 2% position in my TFSA and then selling them both for a tax loss. Your opinion?
Bonus question-based on the ruffled feathers, would you consider doing a review of the various portfolios performance with commentary at set periods?
Thx

Q: I was listening to the CEO on BNN a couple of days ago and he seemed quite surprised where the price of the stock was given the state of the company. He also reiterated the priority on the distribution. VET is considered, by many, as a well run company in a really bad sector. You would have to go back to 2005 to see the stock below its current value. Given their "rep" as a good company, their current low stock price and their diversification of assets, could one of the big guys (Exxon, etc) take a run them? Would you be comfortable taking a position here?
Q: Regarding COV. I don't usually play with this stuff and I'd only be thinking about a 1% or so position. But there seems to be an actual business underneath this mess. So lets assume the Saudi business is gone and the rogue salesman pulled off whatever he was trying to pull off. As I read their reports that leaves 60% of their business in the US. So the question is where does that leave us going forward ? And how to assess managements ability to grow from there ? If it drops to the $2.00 range is there some value there ?
Q: I have a half position in shop would you be comfortable adding here.

Constellation Software Inc. (CSU $4,681.20)
-
Shopify Inc. Class A Subordinate Voting Shares (SHOP $205.80)
Q: Hello. In monitoring my equity investments, I note that SHOP is now 8.3% of my total stock portfoliio while CSU has reached 7.5% of that same total. My question is whether it is too risky to let these run -- or trim them back now. Thanks!
Q: Is this a good time to get into North American Construction Group? It seems to be stabilizing a bit, and wondered if its more stable trajectory is due to the recent blip uptick in oil/energy, or whether it's more company-specific? I note that in a comment last month you had said that its oil sands exposure was balanced by non-oil sands projects. What percentage, for instance, would projects in non-oil be compared to oil sands projects?
Q: Comments on the latest quarter? Seems like the market is really punishing the stock.
Q: Where would you stand with today's announcement? Is this still a sector go to name? Or time to cut loose. Don't answer if already dealt with today
Q: Your overview of the announcement of the agreement with Penn National and the potential impact on share price please.
