Q: Hi Team,
These Tariff moves have gone from "not a big concern" to a major concern with anyone holding a growth portfolio. Currently I am down 23% from peak in short order since January, due to a higher concentration in Tech names and other growth names. An amazing fall considering I thought I was holding all solid names (such as NVDA. PRL, SHOP, TTD as examples) Do you view this as 2022 all over again? Or do you think the market will bottom sooner than it did in that year? Hard to say I know based on Trump saying that he no longer cares much about the market this go around. A much different tune that last term. However I suppose that could change overnight. I don't imagine Musk in enjoying Tsla's fall; perhaps that will end up in a clash with Trump on trade policies or hopefully talk some sense into him at the very least. Looking for your take on the current situation. Lastly, I assume that since major damage is already done would I be best to just hold the line at this point? Or sell out some growth names even at current levels? If buying new purchases what would be your top 3 names to add to at current levels?
Q: Your thoughts please on Caterpillar vs Deere for long-term growth, and generally how you would rate these as buy/hold/sell in the current environment. Id appreciate any comments where you expect growth will come from (eg mining automation/AI) and leverage. Thank you.
Q: I was reading your last comments on Lumine, and you said organic growth may improve as the company makes more acquisitions. Which makes sense. But when does the contribution from an acquisition start to be included in organic growth numbers? After a year of owing it? Thanks.
Q: I am currently break even on my BCE holding. What is your current opinion on the stock given it's recent strength despite the general market weakness? I am certainly expecting a dividend cut starting with the July payment. Would you regard it as a hold or sell?
Q: How do you see the ATD stock reacting if they are able to buy the North American retail business of Seven & I? (initial reaction) And how do yo see it reacting if they cannot reach and agreement to purchase these assets? Does the U.S. SEC have to endorse the purchase?
Q: Within each of their sectors, CPX and GSY seem to have suffered larger drops than their peers.
Can you comment on why they each have been so negatively impacted and provide your thoughts on whether you think they should be continued to be owned or do you have other preferences in these sectors, if one's goal is income and some growth.
Q: Thoughts on RMAX as a diversified REIT holding in US and Canada instead of a few individual stocks? Generally what % of portfolio would be good to allocate to REITs in today's environment?
Q: For an investor with a higher than average risk tolerance, what percent of their portfolio would you suggest be in Canadian, US, European and Asian equities/etfs? thanks, J
Q: Your analysis of aqn’s results beyond just the numbers would be appreciated. Is the transition to a pure play working to stabilize operations and balance sheet?
